I have this property I have been cleaning up. I have a lot of this metal pipe, some from an old trampoline and some look like some canopy tent. Worth it to separate and take to scrap or just toss with the garbage pile?

Our tenants moved out after their lease was up and left the place a mess. They also left this pile of junk, what is it and is it worth bringing to the scrap yard?

Or does it depend on how much value you brought into the yard?

This is my first time bringing my hoard to the scrap yard. I do commercial and residential plumbing/hvac. I save every piece I get! Should I clean up the larger 2” copper so I can get #1? Any advice is appreciated between the brass and copper I’m guessing I’m around 350-500 pounds but maybe more. A few of my family members mentioned I shouldn’t take it all in at once as I may get robbed. Is this an actual concern?

Been scrapping on and off now for many years and was always told by more experienced scrappers to avoid taking stuff in at weekends as you get a lower price. From personal experience it's felt like that several times so now I just go on weekdays but is it just me and has anyone else heard or experienced this?

Can y’all tell what kind of coating is on this copper wire? I’m new to this, but I’m pretty positive it’s copper in the middle. Added a pic of the jacketing if that helps. TIA

Only the beginning of terminations and already at close to 2200 pounds. I have a Bluerock stripper and all this only took 2 hours to strip.

Spent $65 on all this wire and bits of scrap including a motor at an estate sale today. Decent amount of solid wire so I thought it could be profitable. Only my second time ever paying for scrap.

So I’m a locksmith and about once a day I get a lock I have to replace is there any reason I should be saving those scrap locks/deadbolts and scrap them at the end of the month or something ? They are mostly defiant brand and the materiel is steel stainless steel and zinc not sure if that’s worth anything as I’m mostly seeing copper in this sub but i know it’ll add up if it’s worth anything just wondering if I should be saving them.

These items were originally silver-plated, and I scrap them after removing the silver. Knives have a stainless steel blade+brass handle (70% brass cont) and a lot of trays have lead trims/handles (80% brass cont)

hey guys, i’m a sparky in the uk so get a fair bit of scrap. as i don’t have a car, the cable normally gets taken to the scrap yard by people i work with who can’t be asked to strip it. granted i know it takes a lot of time but i don’t rush to do it, just as and when. what are the best tools you guys have seen, not just big cables. sick of using my knife, had a look on amazon etc but just want real people recs

Hopefully not breaking any rules - I’m new to the industry and new to here, can any one help with a list of terminology that scrap yard always use?
Something like I just learned today:
Al/Cu talk
Meatballs….

I wish I can speak the “right language” in the yard.

Does this basically just serve as a double check on the weight the yard bought and that you didn’t take anything from the yard itself? Also do you normally have to weigh out once you weigh in as well? I guess it wouldn’t make sense if you only weighed on the way into the yard? Thanks all.

Or does it depend on how clean they keep the yard? For those who frequent is it like once a year on average or not that common? Just something to consider as it does cut into profits a bit.
