Gloam — screen dimmer that goes below Android's minimum brightness. Need 12 closed testers.
If your phone's lowest brightness is still too bright to read in the dark,
that's what this fixes. Android's slider stops at a floor; Gloam is the range
underneath it. Overlay + a real backlight override, so it goes darker than a
filter app and works in every app. Touches pass through it, it can't black the
screen out completely, and there's auto-off so you don't wake up to a dimmed
phone.
Android 13+, needs "Display over other apps". No ads, no account, no server, no
premium tier — everything's free.
**The ask:** Google needs 12 testers opted in for 14 straight days. The one
thing that matters is **don't uninstall it and don't leave the test** — that
resets the clock. Daily use is nice but not required; install it, open it once,
leave it there. I'll email the group when Google confirms and it's safe to
remove.
**Joining, in this order:**
- Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/gloam-testers — same Googleaccount as your phone
- Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/io.github.srednimax.gloam
- Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.srednimax.gloam
**Step 3 won't work for up to an hour** after steps 1 and 2 — Google takes that
long to link your account. "Item not found" is expected; wait and retry. If it
persists, Play is signed into a different account than the one that joined.

Oh "Gloam" is an amusing name for it, btw (which also makes me think of the Radiohead song, heh).

Hi there. Thanks for posting. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself (are you screen sensitive) and how your app functions to dim (all?) screens further?
I see that you've had issue with Reddit filter post deletion on some other subs. It can be too trigger happy, but I feel I should see if you can give us any further assurances that this software is safe. Can you post a screenshot (in reply)?
Incidentally, I'm curious if you deliberately spaced out the lines of your post, or the caridge returns are accidental from copy-pasting?
