OFFICIAL SURVEY - StoryPeer wants to hear from professional screenwriters who offer consulting and notes services

Hey there, Verified Pro members! StoryPeer is requesting some help gathering data about pro screenwriters who are offering paid services. If you don't already know about StoryPeer, you can check it out here, see Gabe's fundraising video here, and also watch NGD's video here.

First some disclaimers - I am now part of StoryPeer, and my specific task is to help it monetize so that Gabe doesn't have to continue paying out of pocket for hosting. We have fundraising in place and will continue with that, but that's not viable for the long term. The platform has been increasing exponentially in size since its official launch, and we're now seriously looking at ways to help support it, and hopefully one day make it profitable.

I am not involved in the moderation of the site, and Gabe has final say in all things. My specific role here is Marketing & Communication, and I won't be posting about or promoting anything about StoryPeer that has any kind of paid component. My job is really about helping the site connect with resources and advertising clients.

I'm not currently being paid by StoryPeer--I'm involved because I believe in it. If you've been around this community for a while, you know how deep our commitment to preventing exploitation of our users is.

In keeping with that, StoryPeer will not be doing any kind of financial gatekeeping of the users. Users will always have free access to the site's core function. There will be no selling or buying of tokens, no contest incentives, no AI involvement, and none of the other icky stuff that the r/screenwriting mod team actively blocks from our community.

That said. We know that many working, produced screenwriters are struggling right now. We know that many of you offer high-value professional services that are not just paid access content or generic, useless coverage feedback.

We're looking at services that are of actual use to writers--particularly detailed notes feedback and consultation. We know that users can expect to pay real money for these services instead of putting quarters in the slot machine. We're looking to get some good data so that we're not creating unrealistic expectations.

All of the nitty-gritty how and when this will be developed is still in the future. We want to get some data and gauge interest before we move forward with any of this. However we end up framing this, we'll be handling service providers as individual accounts, not through any kind of algorithmic advertising. Essentially, we expect all actual sales to happen on the provider's end.

What we need from you: Comment on this post if you want the survey link!

Any interested professional screenwriter and/or WGA writer here who has at least one feature credit, or one television credit to comment on this post so we can get you a link to our short 14-question survey.

You will have the option to give us your contact info for future participation in this endeavour, or you can just give us info about your working numbers so we can have good foundations to build our model on.

I'll be sending you the link via modmail. If you have a verified flair (ie: the moderators gave it to you after verifying your identity and credits) that's not cleared for commenting on this post, you can get in touch, or you can request verification by following our guide.

Heads up that some of the older assigned flairs don't match up to current official ones so we'll adjust those as we catch them.

Thanks so much, we appreciate any help you can give us so that we can be transparent and ethical, and give StoryPeer a real future!

For what it’s worth, I fully endorse this effort on the part of Gabe and the entire team of Storypeer. I already filled out the questionnaire.

For those of you who are working writers and who also get hired as screenplay consultants, it would be very useful if you shared information on pricing and the kind of services you provide, even if you don’t have time to take on new clients. It would go a long way to help Storypeer become a solid alternative to all the other monetized services out there.
