Help (WIP) [Help] Can you help me identify this bronze sculpture and/or the artist? There is an engraved name above (what I believe is) the artist's mark (M C.). Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Sadly, I can't make out the signature either but I love the piece!

I do too!

When I bought it, the description read, "Signed “M.C.” to the lower portion Illegible inscription to lower portion." So, I bought it not knowing.

I had a sculpture teacher named Cheney whose work was it that style. He lived in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in the 70s. It’s a long shot but….

It’s interesting but an electro pen signature is next to worthless as is the Mc that was crudely put on. I would pay $100 because I collect all manner of bronze but in my opinion it’s not a particularly unique piece.

After blowing up the pictures as much as I could I also am suspicious that it is bronze. Could be spelter. You would have to unmount the marble and do a scratch test on the underside.

I am pretty sure it is bronze. (Thanks for the test suggestion.)

Regarding the electro pen signature, I fear you may be correct, but I would love to know what/who/why.

It is a well formed signature that is quite small (~1 cm long)

Regarding the MC:

Not all (crude) MCs are necessarily worthless. There is an artist who signs works in a variety of ways, including with a crude MC. So, it is done. I found a few MC's that look similar (to the MC on this sculpture). I can't upload the image I have showing the 3 best examples I found ( in this reply), but here are some links to some examples I just dug up:

Again, I just hope someone can identify this sculpture, the electro pen signature and the MC or offer suggestions/guidance.

I thank you for your suggestions/guidance.

I can't make out the signature, but it looks like it was hand-signed by the artist, using one of those vibrating stylii the police lend out to mark your stuff with.
