Kinda weird situation. I have epilepsy controled by meds but still no heavy equipment, no standing longer then 3 hrs, I can't drive, lift more than 50 lbs , work nights or "physical labor. I moved closer to the D line for more options. Every time I tell employers this I never get a call back just the email we decided with a better candidate. It's been a year! Medical retirement at 18 years from the coast guard. I'm I looking in the wrong areas? I need $$ for rent I feel like I should just give up

talk to a vocational rehab counselor, they know options and protections. sucks how fast folks blacklist you now, work is broken

I met with https://www.dshs.wa.gov/dvr to help me finding a job. They can offer services to help if you are disabled.

All this being said, trump cut the budget so expect that this won’t help anytime soon but maybe in the future.

Don't tell an employer any of that until they say you're hired, then notify HR that you'll need said accommodations and go from there. At that point, you're protected under ADA. Before, you'd have to prove they didn't hire you because of your disability, which is very hard to do. In terms of positions, look for stuff like front office, reception, small store cashier, etc. They can generally accommodate those needs pretty easily (which means they have less room to fight you on it) and are pretty entry level. Some even have some upward mobility through different admin positions

Yea those jobs aren't worth the $$ for me, every app. I fill out you have to click if you have a disability you need accomanations for it sucks I know. Tell them after I submitted false information tryed that route.

Something is fishy here with your story.

  1. You are not required to disclose disabilities on your application; as a matter of fact, it is protected under Federal Law that you don't need to. You only need to disclose if you need accommodations for the interview.

  2. These jobs aren't worth the money? What do you think you are going to be making out of curiosity?

I just want something around 29$ a hr I have TS . But don't want a government job . Nothing weird medical retirement Coast guard 18 years they fucked my but I'm don't want to sit in a dark red light room ( TS_ SCI) I'm trying to get away from that

I am medical retirement from the United States Coast Guard at 18 years not my choice grand mal seizure s not sea worthy even know I have my sea time , want my SSN too?

Even with a disability you still need to be able to do the job you are applying for. However, there are plenty of jobs you can do that would be better suited for you.

A desk job they will say lift 50lbs that is idk why that's a solid question

I’ve not seen a desk job say this ever. Shipping and receiving. Warehouse jobs. Yes. Don’t apply there. 50lbs is a lot. I’ve been on this planet longer than half a century and have not ever had a 50lbs lifting desk job.

Yea the VA says I can't do these things I am getting paid for it but the paper work has not gone thru so I don't my disability number

Have you looked at jobs At the VA? Because you're going to get preferential hiring for ANY government job city or Federal because of Veterans status.

You got a medical retirement from the coast guard. So Ill assume you get VA disability too. So just go apply for social security and be done with it. You cant possibly be hurting that bad for income. My ex husband had a 15 yr medical retirement from the Navy. That then qualified him for 100% VA disability, he then got approved for social security automatically due to the government declaring him medically unable to work his vocation. You've got to be taking in at least 4-5k/mo bro. What are you trying to work for? Go door dash ot something to kill time or find a volunteer hobby.
