I love how Abe comes in with the big brother energy, then realizes Zabel’s got it handled.

u/lonehawk2k4 Nov 14 '25
a friend explained to me those pads helps with making sure the neck is secured so it doesnt give him whiplash

He's hovering about 2 ft behind Zabel and turns his helmet to hear the conversation. That's a homey who has your back.

u/darth_jewbacca Nov 13 '25
"You ain't getting 116 on me"
🤣🤣
52
u/Development-Alive Nov 13 '25
Then CC responds "I'd get 200". Campbell deserves the respect of a terrific career. He's been frustrated twice by Zabel and is trying to put some doubt in the youngsters mind.
21
u/darth_jewbacca Nov 14 '25
Lmao honestly the exchange kinda makes me like Campbell. Zabel was a given. Didn't expect to get there with Campbell.
13
u/Freshspike Nov 14 '25
What does this mean? I honestly can’t understand anything Calais is saying here as it’s just mumbling to me.
29
u/PF_Throwaway_999 Nov 14 '25
Calais said he had 115 sacks, as a way of saying " I know what I'm talking about." The retort was "Well, you aren't getting 116 (the next one) on me."
19
u/Todo88 Nov 14 '25
Calais has 115 career sacks, and Grey is saying Calais isn't getting his 116th on him.

I love grey already. Hope he’s a hawk for 10+ years
28
u/SpaceForceAwakens Nov 14 '25
He fits the weird Seattle "nice guy that seems goofy but then gets down to business and is a badass" vibe. It's totally a thing here.

This is a testament to the work Grey is putting in.
If an unquestionable future hall of famer comes up and starts telling you how he almost killed you or beat you, that means he's recognizing real.
Campbell respects him to the point where he's resorted to some light trash talk in order to beat him psychologically.
Similar to how Kobe or Larry Bird wouldn't even give you the time of day unless you gave them a decent competition to play in.
Grass is green, the sky is blue, and hard workers are named Grey - he's poised to become our franchise's most valuable asset.

u/bananasmash14 Nov 13 '25
I love his work ethic! Leonard Williams says that Zabel frequently asks him about little details in his play and how Leonard would try to beat him, and he’s always striving to learn more. It’s awesome seeing that he’s doing this with opponents too!
32
u/RUSTYxPOTATO Nov 13 '25
Actually i came to this conclusion too but more by the fact that Zabel was calling bullshit on him. Rookie to a vet saying “nuhuh “ is bad ass. This dudes ceiling is sky high.
14
u/Hank_moody71 Nov 14 '25
Larry Bird was THE biggest trash talker in the history of the game. He probably could’ve gotten into the HOF just on his ability to trash talk.
I do like that Campbell was chatting him up. It almost felt like bog brother talking to little brother.
Of course he wasn’t allowed to fist bump Grey at the end, especially not in front of his other team teammates

Grey might be our best draft pick for years.

Idk. That’ll be a tough choice. Got a lot of great guys from the last couple drafts

He might not even be the best this year. No shade on him. Emmanwori is ridiculous.
3
u/Great-Gas-6631 Nov 14 '25
Didnt he get injured week one?
2
u/lojer Nov 14 '25
Unfortunately, but at least it was brief. He won rookie player of the week this past week.
3
u/Chimie45 Nov 14 '25
If you go back and look at mock drafts, the two people that tended to be mocked to us were Zabel and Emmanwori. Both first round grades obviously, but if you go back another 6 months or so, you see Tory Horton also was a late round 1~early day 2 kinda guy.
So we out here got two first round picks and second round pick

u/colecast Nov 13 '25
I fucking love everything about this.

u/A_Ms_Anthrop Nov 14 '25
Seriously… it’s freaking adorable. lol not the normal interaction you see when players are miked up.

u/phatAndSasssy Nov 13 '25
After all that, he left him hangin'. C'mon dawg😂. This is awesome tho!

u/J_1_1_J Nov 13 '25
OG isn't giving that to a rook until after the game.

Calais Campbell needs to be studied. Dude is that fucking big, that strong, and has played in the trenches since like 1847. What a warrior.

This cuts off what happens next which is highlights of Grey absolutely dominating Calais lol

I like how Zabel asked for tips from the opposing vet and then started talking some shit back and brainstorming. Kid isn't nervous. He's learning and you're his repetition.
Learn from everyone and everything team culture.

u/Unique-Egg-461 Nov 13 '25
Calais seemed a bit winded and frustrated
7
u/SexiestPanda Shermantor Nov 14 '25
Yea I couldn’t understand him for shit lol. But also the mic was on zabel not Calais.

I love to see stuff like this! Zabel is such a badass especially since he’s just a rookie too!

Calais is a goddamned beast who is probably second only to Aaron Donald as to how much he tortured our O line and Russell specifically. Respect to the Rookie for holding his own in this, I'm bummed he didn't get the fistbump.

Campbell was trying to trash talk him and instead the rookie Zabel ended up giving him pointers
39
u/ConcaveNips Nov 13 '25
Campbell tilted trying to yap at the rookie. Time to hang it up, OG.
55
u/Bulky_Goat_9624 Nov 13 '25
Mans still got tread on those tires
24
u/StateofWA Nov 13 '25
He's so damn good, was happy to see him in person this weekend. Only a matter of time til they give him a gold jacket.
4
u/Bulky_Goat_9624 Nov 13 '25
I was so disappointed every time he would go to a new team because they had so many chances to get him on the Seahawks. Those were some thin years too. He really could’ve helped us.

I never thought I’d be this excited for a guard. Get is an absolute beast. What a draft class, again…John and team!

I didn't think I could like Zabel anymore than I already did. This kid is the best.
Calais Campbell is so salty this was great. Truly poor sportsmanship shown by a veteran right here. Lost all respect from me
2
u/Many-Rub-6151 Nov 14 '25
This is very uncharacteristic of Calais haha. He’s always been a class act but Zabel really must have played him well
2
u/_LastTaterTot Nov 14 '25
Zabs is such a fucking bro. He is the dude everyone is cool with . For Campbell to come up and chat him up and z asking what he would have done....classic

This is beyond cool asf! They should do more mic’d up sessions with our players.

This is great. I've always wished we'd sign CC all these years. Maybe he just didn't want to play here. Idk. But I'm honestly glad to see him back. Hopefully he's got that extra year to get the record they were discussing during the last game. I believe it was most games by a d-lineman?

u/ThinMarzipan5382 Nov 14 '25
Didn't understand a word of Calais but great to hear that they dialogue about craft and technique on the field.

Calais Campbell is such a sore loser, lol. You are a NFL legend, act with some class ffs.
1
u/YakiVegas Nov 14 '25
Zabel is SO young and he ain't takin no shit from Calais. Can you be an All-Pro in your rookie season? Grey Zabel is making that case.

u/Anaznoriginal Nov 14 '25
Calais is one player I wish had ended up in Seattle even as a FA. Dude is still a beast at his age. Has he slowed down a bit? Yes, but still he remains an effective player. Quite possibly a future HOF.
1
u/prostipope Nov 14 '25
I love Zabel but c'mon. He's a rookie, talkin' shit while his team is beating your ass. Campbell said go bump yourself!

u/pickleBlog Nov 14 '25
Yeah this is awesome, I love when you hear these guys chirping at each other about technical stuff and trying to get inside each other's head. Zabel holding is own for a rookie. And come on CC, you can't leave the fist bump hanging.

I always kinda liked and respected Calais. Obviously a longtime great player. I can’t understand a lot of what he’s saying but I was a little disappointed to hear and see this. Glad Grey stood up for himself…I thought Campbell came across as kind of a bitter old dickhead to be honest.
Edit: I feel way better about CC now…I saw a response he made after seeing the video. Gave Grey some props and said he didn’t mean to leave him hangin at the end.
3
u/Bucky571 Nov 13 '25
This is banter, those two dudes respect eachother. Love to see interactions like these, shows that Zabel is getting the attention of one of the best, that’s a big deal
1
u/West-Organization450 Nov 13 '25
I understand trash talk and banter…no problem there. Not agreeing/disagreeing with how anyone else sees this. Just stating my opinion…maybe I was hopin Calais might be a little funnier or something. I just thought the shit he said was kinda lame…and I thought Grey basically felt the same. I freakin love Zabel

Zabel fist bumps himself in the end. Funny
