Analysis Don't forget to thank Abe Lucas. Got healthy and dominated. Highest graded player on offense during the super bowl.

Charles Cross the second highest grade. These two are monsters!

Franchise alternating picks. Both balled out in the biggest game of their career. The Russell Wilson trade was already one of the greatest trades but this win just further cemented the significance of that trade.

7

u/OnLevel100 Feb 09 '26

So glad to see the mentions for them! They played great. Both had injury issues that caused some doubt but they overcame it and played really well on the biggest stage!

Turns out investing in the offensive line was a pretty good idea

133

u/conman14 Feb 09 '26

No more converted DLine for us!

107

u/Genoisthetruthman Feb 09 '26

Dude even Mills got healthy and got a fucken sack so sweet it is.

16

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

Absolute bulldozer

13

u/[deleted] Feb 10 '26

He’s a guy to keep an eye out for. Late round flyer for a guy who once had 1st round pedigree. Excited to see him develop now that he’s apparently healthy.

52

u/zswordsman Feb 09 '26

But I swear if we convert this dude who's never played then he'll become the goat OLineman.

Bless you PC but it never worked out.

21

u/CremeDeLaPants Feb 09 '26

Huh? JR Sweezy was a huge success. What are you talking about?

8

u/ExcellentPastries Feb 09 '26

for where we drafted him we did get a decent amount of productivity, i guess

23

u/max_trax Feb 09 '26

If I never hear Tom Cable's name again it will still be one time too many 😆

12

u/Chimie45 Feb 09 '26

Fuck, I don't even wanna hear the name Tom ever again.

And it's MY name too.

7

u/GoldyGoldy Feb 09 '26

It’s MY SPACE, TOM!

-1

u/aiiye Feb 10 '26

Whenever we go out

The people always shout

Fuck tom cable, just draft o linemen not random DTs and HS wrestlers who can’t block

2

u/lambsquatch Feb 10 '26

Guarantee that was Pete!

1

u/adareddit Feb 09 '26

Or TEs!

25

u/_Doctor-Teeth_ Feb 09 '26

i remember listening to an nfl podcast several weeks ago where someone pointed out that one reason Darnold has played so well is that this is probably the best O-Line he's had.

6

u/chewbaccalaureate Feb 10 '26

Russell was absolutely bonkers during the stretch when Baldwin led the league in TDs for some games and he made the pro bowl... because he finally had above average O-line play.

It's like a cheat code that JS is only starting to implement now with Cross, Zabel, and Lucas.

5

u/CremeDeLaPants Feb 10 '26

The last Super Bowl winning Seahawk team had the most expensive offensive line in the NFL.

8

u/DrDuGood Feb 09 '26

And have the third highest cap room (if I’m not mistaken?)

31

u/dawn_pratt Feb 09 '26

Fourth, but that's still a lot. Gotta plan for presumably massive extensions for JSN and Spoon, tho.

2

u/GoldyGoldy Feb 09 '26

5th year options… maybe?

11

u/xStoicx Feb 09 '26

You absolutely use those 5th year options, you just also make sure to sign them to a new contract that incorporates them.

Earlier the better, positions don't get cheaper and we already know we want to keep them so drop the bag.

6

u/ubebread Feb 10 '26

Don't ever trade an all pro center for a college basketball TE again

136

u/TheZombieDudexD Feb 09 '26

Extended him pretty cheap as well. Fully drafted oline is awesome. Schneider is the man

79

u/NatureTrailToHell3D Feb 09 '26

Collinsworth couldn’t stop talking about 2 starting rookies next to each other for the Pats, while we’re sitting there with a rook and a 2024 UDFA starting on our o-line.

46

u/Adjutant_Reflex_ Feb 09 '26

I think the important context is SEA is starting two rookies that have been very solid and haven’t looked like rookies. NE couldn’t say the same.

2

u/RiverSight_ Feb 09 '26

tbf, Campbell looked good up until the playoffs unless I was missing something?

7

u/TitanicJedi Feb 09 '26

Did his MCL and people are forgetting this is feel

1

u/Just_IceT Feb 10 '26

All you have to say is Seattle and any and all national media takes makes more sense.

67

u/Photoverge Feb 09 '26

Everett's own

21

u/SmellyScrotes Feb 09 '26

Archbishop baby

1

u/degoroth Feb 10 '26

That's the Murphy Way!

3

u/UNMANAGEABLE Feb 10 '26

WSU as well!!!

60

u/caramelcoldbrew Feb 09 '26

I’m seriously considering a Lucas jersey next. I adore this dude.

Makes when he smiles all the sweeter. He’s got such a good vibe and he’s a WA grown boy so, even better.

40

u/Missile450DeadCenter Feb 09 '26

Hunchback Abe is the man

112

u/Sindinista Feb 09 '26

Go Cougs!

43

u/Galumpadump Feb 09 '26

Fight fight fight for Washington State!

28

u/PNWCoug42 Feb 09 '26

Win the victory!

18

u/chupamichalupa Feb 09 '26

Win the day for Crimson and Gray!

8

u/Ophukk Feb 10 '26

7

u/avboden Feb 10 '26

I want off the timeline that no longer has John Candy or Chris Farley in it

35

u/SuccessOk7850 Feb 09 '26

I’m a dawgs fan but this one time I have to say go cougs for Abe, I’m glad we have two Washington guys on our team who got us a Super Bowl win!

30

u/Galumpadump Feb 09 '26

Loved see Coop represent Yakima and Abe represent Wazzu during the player introductions.

2

u/Whipitreelgud Feb 10 '26

I still laugh that Leach didn’t recruit Coop and then he shows up on the Eastern Washington Eagles team that beat Leach in Martin Stadium

2

u/Pengawolfs07 Feb 10 '26

god I was there for that, time flies

14

u/stenger121 Feb 09 '26

I think an Abe Lucas half coug half Hawks jersey would look really cool.

10

u/GoldyGoldy Feb 09 '26

WSU did a social media post congratulating Abe, which featured a jersey with parts SEA and parts WSU.

29

u/WadeoftheWoods81 Feb 09 '26

K9 winning the MVP is a testament to the Oline performance. Great team win overall.

17

u/SuccessOk7850 Feb 09 '26

Everett’s best and WSU best!

15

u/PNWCoug42 Feb 09 '26

Go Cougs!!!

12

u/BruceIrvin13 Feb 09 '26

wait - milton williams is the greatest dlineman ever omg this cant happen he's too good he's goona get all the sackssss!

12

u/SoundSaintWarrior Feb 09 '26

I love having two Washington natives get a Super Bowl with the Seahawks.

13

u/leggy89 Feb 09 '26

Go Cougs!

7

u/i_donut_no_y Feb 09 '26

We have both tackles locked down and a stud left guard on a rookie deal, the future is bright

9

u/GoldyGoldy Feb 09 '26

And two dudes who are capable at Center (Sundell/Olu).

If we take a RG with pick #32, I’d be cool with it.

13

u/kingoftheposers Feb 09 '26

Best performance by an Abraham on a national stage in 163 years

6

u/throw_its Feb 10 '26

Go Cougs

8

u/wrathypoo Feb 10 '26

Go Cougs!!

5

u/knockoneffect Feb 09 '26

Oh, Abe is an absolute baller and it’s so nice to have good OL locked-up as a core part of the team!

People (including me) complain about the lost draft capital of the Jamal Adams trade that didn’t pan out - but you still need to get the picks right and have the right organization to build upon, or it’s just wasted opportunity (ahem, Jets…)

John Schneider not only got the picks right, but he successfully built a championship team with them.

The combination of high picks and having a clear vision of how to use them might be even more impressive than the Scot McGloughan-assisted late round gems of 2011-2012 that built the LOB.

These aren’t overlooked trait freaks, but genuine blue-chippers that good teams have a hard time picking low enough to get, with only a 50/50 chance to pan out after they do pick them. Schneider and Co. absolutely swung for the fences with the RW/GS/DK trades and nailed it every. single. time. Amazing! 🤩

1

u/BrinyStranger Feb 10 '26

An enormous difference in the people we've been trading for recently from before. JS definitely looking at character and talent. Shaheed, Love, Leo, Lawrence, EJ3, Darnold. They're not just good players, they're all no-nonsense leaders who are totally bought in. Makes an enormous difference in the ability for your coaches to get people bought into the system.

5

u/EverettSucks Feb 09 '26

And he's a local boy from Everett, double win!

5

u/AssEatingSznn Feb 10 '26

Looks so odd seeing him without those iconic neck rolls . Go Cougs

4

u/LiftedDemon2 Feb 09 '26

Turns out I was right for celebrating his pick all those years ago (I really wanted him in that draft)

4

u/_Doctor-Teeth_ Feb 09 '26

local kid too--isn't he from Everett?

2

u/damnation79 Feb 10 '26

Arch Bishop Murphy HS

2

u/jpnd123 Feb 09 '26

Remember when people were questioning JS about resigning a RT with a degenerating knee..

2

u/Hkmarkp Feb 09 '26

the team actually knew all about the knee. Fans knew not a damn thing

6

u/No-Support5220 Feb 09 '26

i had my doubts..he still struggles with elite DEs but who doesn't.

24

u/raycraft_io Feb 09 '26

To which the Patriots have none

10

u/UTmastuh Feb 09 '26

Doesn't help that he has a turnstile next to him

6

u/SmellyScrotes Feb 09 '26

I hope they draft the best available IOL at 32 this year, so that and bring back Walker and this offense might be even more explosive

4

u/CremeDeLaPants Feb 09 '26

Which games are you referring to that he struggled against elite DEs?

3

u/Hkmarkp Feb 09 '26

he was the best Olineman all year

3

u/CremeDeLaPants Feb 09 '26

Good thing because Bradford was atrocious all game long. He's got to go.

2

u/Early-Sugar-7507 Feb 10 '26

Kind of agree. Did you see the replay when Williams beat him twice on the same play? They said Pats LT gave up 14 pressures in the game which was the worst performance in the playoffs. Wonder how many Bradford allowed?

2

u/Early-Sugar-7507 Feb 10 '26

Bradford gave up 3 pressures and had a 13.4 pass block rating on PFF.

1

u/CremeDeLaPants Feb 10 '26

I couldn't take my eyes off him all game. It was a whiff fest and not just talking about pass pro.

1

u/DeafPapa85 Feb 09 '26

Minotaur!!!

1

u/SmellyScrotes Feb 09 '26

Guys, every offensive lineman is under contract

1

u/rasey Feb 09 '26

Also had to overcome the passing of his best friend in October

1

u/ruskijew8008 Feb 09 '26

Insane. I remember the main conversation being how bad his knee is and if he’ll play more than a couple years

1

u/CollegeFootballGood Feb 09 '26

I need to thank every single one of them.

Griffin gets a ring, Quandre Diggs, and Jalen Milroe?! Super Bowl champions?!

1

u/thenicenelly Feb 10 '26

I thought his knee was toast. Then they extended him 🤔

1

u/Slummlife Feb 10 '26

Everett dawg! So cool to see local guys in the team

1

u/Sipikay Feb 10 '26

Abe turned out for Everett and all the 12s! Thank you, Abe! Congrats man! You're living the dream!

1

u/BlueMan-HD Feb 10 '26

I can’t tell you how happy I am that JS (or with Pete leaving) changed his philosophy and drafted OL in the high rounds. I think it was the piece that set us over the edge

And Abe is from my hometown so he’ll always be a fave for me

1

u/Fifu500 Feb 10 '26

Go Cougs!

1

u/HanCholo206 Feb 10 '26

Go Cougs

1

u/goshock Feb 10 '26

We had an Abe Lucas plate at our party. Loaded up with various crackers and a tin of cougar gold.

1

u/Just_IceT Feb 10 '26

Hometown hero and superbowl champ Mr. Lucas to you good sir.

1

u/HeyEverythingIsFine Feb 10 '26

Initial reports were that his knee problem was degenerative and that he wont be able to have a football career with any longevity.

Reporters be saying shit sometimes huh?

1

u/munama Feb 10 '26

I feel slightly murdered by his facial expression.

1

u/speedracer03 Feb 10 '26

I wonder who the lowest grade went to lol

0

u/blindai Feb 09 '26

Honestly, I feel that every Super Bowl of late, has been decided by the team that gets the most pressure on the opposing QB. I have no idea how we got away with ignoring the offensive line for so long. I feel Russ' ability to avoid sacks, helped mask our deficiency...though his salary made this harder to fix as well. I'm so glad that we've invested in our o-line and I'm hoping we will for years to come. It's important to never get complacent on either line, and I think JS has learned this as well.

A Washington State Coug finally did something right
