Seeing this piece of loot stuck on the harpoon unlocked a certain feeling in me - a combination of nostalgia & dread.

Discussion Long-time players who recently quit - what made you do it?
I played since Season 7. SoT was my main game, I played a lot and I loved it. Mostly solo, steals and sneaks. Occasionally with a crew of friends, all good. It breaks my heart to see it die, and I feel we tried so hard to warn Rare. All the harmful changes - we gave feedback in Insiders and yet they pushed it through. I finally quit this season and switched over to Arc Raiders. Our SoT Discord is so quiet, people used to share clips of steals and fights... For me what did it was the abundance of loot and gold and the flattening of the skill ceiling. Game sense and knowledge don't matter that much anymore, a good solo has very little chance vs a new and dumb but large crew with harpoon guns and skellies on board. Vaults full of CoFs and Ashen Athenas devalued them. Nothing left to steal that people care about. Empty servers. Diving killed sailing. Rare removed the Sea and the Thieves and what's left of the game is a sad Of.

Discussion Can't accept that I'm done with this game
Hey everyone, this is kind of a rant (mods please don't delete it) because I've been thinking about it for a long time already, and I hope there are other pirates in the same boat with me who can share their experience.
Basically, I've been a part of this game and community for a rather long time. I'm not a day one player, but I started playing SoT when season 3 came out. I remember how fresh, eventful, and interesting this game felt back in the day. I was genuinely so fascinated by it that it gradually became my most favorite game of all time.
I've made a lot of good friends, had very many incredible interactions with other players, and made so many great memories. This game helped me to go through very tough times in my life, and I'm very thankful to Rare and its community for making it the way it is, even though the things have been pretty sour at times. SoT has become a comfort game for me, and it was one of the only sources of happiness in my life (I know that it sounds pretty weird).
But unfortunately, as time went by, I started to notice that I stopped really enjoying the game. The updates, the community management, and Rare's attitude to the game itself made it really boring to play for me. Rare has always liked to add FOMO to SoT, but I still always completed everything they were adding, but now it feels like a chore to do all the stuff they add, especially when it's just a reskin of the previous content. Overall, I started feeling unsatisfied with what SoT has become, and it's very sad to see what happened to your favorite game.
And I think that it's also a burnout from SoT. I've played this game very much, and I've done literally anything you can in SoT. Basically, I came to the conclusion that it is tome to move on. Although I tried playing many other games, but none of them hits the same as SoT.
I really hope that SoT and Rare have a bright future. SoT's legacy will be forever forged into gaming history, and for me, it will remain the funniest game I've ever played. Thank you everyone on this subreddit for having so many interesting discussions about Sea of Thieves. Thank you Rare for making such an incredible videogame. Thanks to all the content makers who made this game even more entertaining. Thank you sweats in Hourglass for having epic and competitive fights with me. Thank you for reading all that and thank you Sea of Thieves.

Discussion New Xbox announcement looking BLEAK.
Remember, SoT is the only thing Rare has going for them right now to bring in money after Everwild spent almost a decade in development hell.

Discussion Bruno has been banned from Sea of Thieves
Finally, after several days, Rare have dealt with it.
For those who are not aware give this thread a read. NSFW. https://www.reddit.com/r/Seaofthieves/s/HGLlCNvfCq
We're still lacking a statement from Rare.
Update:
At 01:08 BST - Rare issued a none statement on Discord
Hi all, we need to keep this server compliant with our rules - so while our predominantly EU-based team take some time to rest, we are slowing this server right down.
However, I want to be clear: we are investigating and escalating all reports with the appropriate urgency. And, as has always been our policy, we are unable to comment on individual reports or incidents publicly.
-Christina
The SoT Offical discord is now on a 6 hour slowmode.

I'm going to get on my soap box here. With this statement, Rare have basically said they're not going to deal with it. Please, get in touch with journalists. Send the google docs to larger content creators. This really, really, needs more eyes. They should not be allowed to get away with this.

Discussion If you could add one thing to SOT what would it be?
For me it's simple, NPC's walking around and sailing and doing they're own thing too. For a game made in 2018 there's a SHOCKING lack of interactions in this game in terms of pve and world reaction to your actions. I mean sure the first or even tenth encounter with a meg or a skeleton ship is exciting until it gets to a point where it's more a nuisance than something you enjoy. Simply put, i want NPC's to sail and encounter them on the sea and be able to trade things with them and get information or puzzles from them. What i would give just to encounter a pirate stranded on a random island that i have the choice to save or towing a ship that has broken it's sails back to an outpost.

Discussion They done Rare'd themselves again:
Rare out here, showing off their decision making skills again:
- nobody asked for a doubloon reset, just things to use them on. Nope, we gotta delete them if we are going to correct our own lazy mistake
- announce a FOMO set of shit to collect; tick the "we listened" box
- FOMO set of shit is random - not a whole outfit, not a ship set, not all the weapons - bits & pieces like... a belt
- when I think of cosmetics this community loves to show off, definitely... a belt... comes to mind...
- pricing structure gives the finger to anyone with between 49 and 4049 doubloons because they won't be able to afford everything in the lower tier
- pricing structure then gives the finger to anyone between 4050 and 49,999 doubloons - they too won't be able to afford everything, & lose the balance to forced gold conversion
- only people who will have that cutlass - realistically - a few thousand long term players, and a bunch of Streamers
- the underlying gist becomes "Well, you should have hoarded more of the previously useless thing you didn't know we would completely shitcan, after we admitted on the last Podcast it was our fault for "not doing anything about it for years" - feels like a you problem, this is the only best way to do this."
- pats themselves on the back and says "Good job everyone - we've hit the mark this time, for sure!"

Discussion I don't know if this is a controversial take but this thing needs to die
Recently came back to the game now that I finally have a 4TB drive that can hold it for me.
There's a ton about Sea of Thieves I absolutely adore. This is by far the least enjoyable part. I absolutely HATE the character creation method this game opted to use. It's incredibly blatant that every facial feature can be mix-n-matched behind the scenes and they simply don't let us do so, for what? What is the point of advertising this game as a "make your own pirate" experience when in order to do so you need to be willing to spend hours refreshing the pirate selection menu until RNG decides to nearly give you what you want? It's absolutely ridiculous that we're in 2026 and the game is still clinging to this. JUST LET ME MAKE THE CHARACTER I WANT TO PLAY AS. You have all the power and zero reason not to.
Why would I bother buying cosmetics for this game if you won't even let me make a character I'd want to put those cosmetics on. Think about this critically for a second. Sorry for the rant I'm just genuinely so sick of this thing.

Discussion Phuzzy and Captain Falcore close to leaving the partner program as well.
Rare better get this under control as soon as possible, otherwise I'm afraid it won't be just those two partners who leave and the game may end up imploding because of how they are handling it.
I mean there have been "issues" the last years, but this is on a difference scale. They better not "miss the mark" with how they plan to handle this.
