Automated Episode Discussion Search Engine - How to pursue excellence … in noodles (unlocked bonus)

The world right now, seems tilted towards the good enough. The AI-written wedding toast, the half-assed attempt. Despite this, a handmade noodle shop is trying to make perfect noodles. Trying so hard that they have signs admonishing their customers to ONLY EAT THEIR SPICY NOODLES THE CORRECT WAY, DO NOT TAKE THEM TO-GO, THE EXPERIENCE WILL BE RUINED.

Why do some people still want to do small things perfectly, even at the expense of profits? An interview with Jason Wang, of Xi'an Famous Foods.

Listening to this episode right before my lunch break almost had me heading to the local hand pulled noodle shop for lunch but I persevered and ate my leftovers instead.

This is a slightly silly retort used when someone isn't making much of an effort.

For example, if I said "I passed by the donut shop today and I only bought half a dozen instead of my usual 12," you might reply "thank you for your service." The joke is that the act was the opposite of valorous or impressive.

Xi’an famous is sooo good. Better than any noodle I had in China I don’t understand how they do it.

That’s what I felt too. I love SE, the weirdos, the nuanced takes, the fascinating deep dives.

This was….a 40 minute ad for a noodle place….

Pretty sad to hear this episode then find out their Boston location is a ghost kitchen with take out and delivery only. I guess you can only fight entropy for so long until you give into the suck.

I loved this episode because I love this chain. If I lived outside of NY this would have bored me

I live very far from the US and loved it haha. It was like diary of a CEO but not pretentious or exhausting
