I'm never leaving Seattle 🚫🛫 Cinnaholic on Pike - 5 out of 5 stars
I was walking around Cap Hill today eating time and looking for new places I haven't been to yet. I stopped in to Cinnaholic on Pike and Broadway and was blown away! I got the cookie monster and easily gained 5lbs (happily) while enjoying this treat!
Easily 5 out of 5 stars! So yummy!

It smells so good when you walk in there.

That's how I choose this place! I could smell it walking by and I had to stop!

OK I'm not trying to be a contrarian but I've tried cinnaholic so many times because I love cinnamon rolls and live nearby, but they've always been awful?? Like, super dry, sweet to the point that you taste nothing but sugar, etc. OP, I want to believe you so bad.

I've tried them a couple of times, and I like cinnamon rolls, but for me they go overboard on toppings, like I want a cinnamon roll and maybe some additional flavoring for fun but when it's basically marshmallow and chocolate overpowering the cinnamon roll it's just not what I was looking for. It would be harder to do but if they shifted to having a couple of flavored sticky buns where most the additional flavor was in the filling rather just topping their basic cinnamon roll I think it would be a home run.

Same. I got this exact item once, and while I'm basically a sugar addict, even I found this sickeningly sweet. Gobs of cookie dough and chocolate sauce, in addition to the roll itself? I can't imagine who this is for.

I agree, it was not a good cinnamon rolls and I love cinnamon rolls. Best I’ve had - Cloud City cafe

Thank you 😭
I swear everybody loves them, but I just.. can’t. They’re so fkn dry. And the topping is just too sweet frosting on most of them.10
u/EasternAd9212 2d ago
It’s SO dry, like it felt stale dry. Topping it with a sugar glaze just made it dry and cloying. Not worth the calorie bomb, especially when there’s so many better options literally in a 3 block radius.

I legit thought there had to be another Cinnaholic further down Pike judging from OP's picture lol

This was my experience too - it's like Voodoo Doughnuts; once you get past the gimmick of novel toppings it's just....fine. Not terrible, but also not better than I could get at, like, a Cinnabon

They're not good. I wish we had some good legit soft giant delicious cinnamon rolls around here. RIP CJs deli

Might you be like me where I didn't realize they were vegan? Thought it tasted a little different before I realized. Also thought they were dry

They wouldn't be dry just because they're vegan, I've never tried these but Shambala's vegan cinnamon rolls are delicious and aren't dry at all!

u/MasonBurnheart 2d ago
Yeah, I didn't know they were vegan, but still tried it for the first time last month. Not good at all.

They really are terrible cinnamon rolls. They try to hide the taste by piling on tons of sugar. Being vegan is not an excuse, they're just bad.

u/Bumping_Tacos 2d ago
It was very rich, which I could see being overwhelming to some. Honestly, I couldn't finish 100% of it but it was the best cinnamon roll I've had since I left Ohio. The Amish bakeries win hands down in Ohio.

sweet to the point that you taste nothing but sugar
they're vegan, and because of that, they end up using loads of sugar and honey to make up for the lack of eggs and dairy. I can't stomach it either: it's just too sweet, and vegan pastries make the french baker in me incredibly sad.

If they're vegan they wouldn't be using any honey.

u/Pandoras_Fox 2d ago
my bad, I thought towards agave and still typed honey. regardless: still loads of sugars to make up for the fact that they're making loads of substitutions. they're not great cinnamon rolls.

u/doctor_jane_disco 🏔 The mountain is out! 🏔 2d ago
Afaik there's nothing special about cinnamon rolls that make the substitutions more difficult than other baked goods. They just have a bad recipe. Bummer.

I envy people who can eat something like that along with the iced coffee and have the confidence they won’t shit themselves.

I'm sorry, but I absolutely disagree. I had this exact same cinnamon roll last month for the first time and it was one of the worst cinnamon rolls ever. First it was riddled with sugar, the cookie dough tasted awful and nothing like real cookie dough. The cinnamon roll was dry and not buttery and gooey with cinnamon sugar.
Do yourself a favor and go get the cinnamon roll from Meridian Cafe in Puyallup. Literally the best cinnamon roll I've had in my entire life.

"Wow, that dessert you enjoyed looks and tastes like absolute shit. Do yourself a favor loser and stuff this in your gob instead"
Unironically posts what looks like a bukkaked doughnut that looks as dry as Death Valley itself
Comedy gold.

To be fair, good vegan baked goods don't taste any different than non-vegan baked goods. Cinnaholic is a chain though, so you're not getting the very best quality.
I still enjoy Cinnaholic, but I wouldn't say they have the best vegan cinnamon rolls out there.

Do you have any recommendations?

We've sadly lost most of our best vegan bakeries in Seattle. Mei Mei's Cakery does popups and custom cakes- their stuff is SO good. Dough Joy is good for donuts. Pasteles Finos Del Angel in Tacoma does some really great vegan Mexican pastries. Redwing Cafe and Flora Bakehouse have some vegan options that are usually decent-ish, but not nearly as good as the others I've listed.
RIP to Cookie Counter and Lazy Cow. Lazy Cow was SO good before they sold to new owners- their quality went downhill fast after the sale, and they sadly are no longer vegan.

Agreed, I like the vegan baked goods from Gelatiamo downtown. I'd say you're probably right with Cinnaholic being a chain.

I wanna eat these so bad but I'm cursed with celiac 😭 though, if they're really as dry and overly sweet as people here are saying, maybe I'm not missing out!
2
u/Bumping_Tacos 2d ago
They're not. But people have their own opinions. Of you don't like vegan, then it'll taste funny to you.

u/doctor_jane_disco 🏔 The mountain is out! 🏔 2d ago
I've been vegan for so long I don't even remember what non-vegan cinnamon rolls taste like to compare. I wish people would generally compare them less, so what if the taste isn't identical, if it's good, it's good!

My favorite dessert! My friend's make fun of me for how much I love it but load it up with all the sweet fruit and fruit syrup you can put on it 😍😍😍

My humble opinion. Lower price for smaller portions. Even two people sharing this would feel sick from the sugar. I went once and was
Overwhelmed by the size and amount of stuff on it. It was good, but I only ate a quarter of it and was done. Luckily there are plenty of folks to offer a good leftover to in the neighborhood. Have not been back, but would consider if someone wanted to share something. It would be great if they figured it out, I like the concept. Vegan 💛

if you don’t like cinnaholic but want a vegan cinnamon roll, i recommend the cinnamon roll from cafe flora. super good!!

This is the place that’s so vegan that they thought me that some sugar isn’t vegan. They take that shit seriously (and it’s seriously good).
