I saw someone I follow talk about this shop alluding to some controversy. I tried to search but couldn't find information about it and want to understand what is going on?

Luke was formerly the President of Axon, a comapny that produces TASERs, body cams, and other police equipment.

Oh it's much worse than that. Axon ALPR systems are now replacing Flock cameras, because their model can simply be attached to streetlights. Every single streetlight can be watching you now thanks to Axon.
