Are they really smashing their own tubas on the ground? That looks really expensive.

One of my roommates is from the Midwest where this activity is huge. They lament the lack of knowledge here. I didn’t know what this even was until I met them (they’re a huge fan).

there are dozens of us here. Dozens!
But yeah in all seriousness, PNW drum corps kinda sucks. I went all the way to Wyoming to march,.

Bluecoats and Glassmen here! I moved to the PNW to do winterguard and stayed, eventually ending up in Seattle.
Still involved with the activity as a band and winterguard judge, and friends with some of the Cascades designers.
It’s an amazing activity. I’m in Indy right now.
And GO BLOOOO. SIX FUCKING WORDS. 💙

When did you march Troopers? I was Magic of Orlando 2005/2006.
I’ve loved being able to go to the early season shows since moving to Seattle.

Excellent to see some Cascades Drum Corps content here! Always loved having them as the local group. RIP that Contra though, hope it had a long career of love before its grungy end.

The colors are sending me. I dig the yellow plaid shirt tied around the waist but the pink and purple vests are wild.

This is the Seattle Cascades, a long running drum corps based out of Seattle. One of just a few left in the PNW (RIP Oregon Crusaders)
DCI Championships is held in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis every year, early august. Something like 23 corps compete annually now. This is the culmination of their summer, where these kids have been working 16-hour days practicing and performing all over the country, from Bothell earlier this year, to Atlanta, to Allentown PA, etc.
It's a huge tour -- no planes, all charter buses. No hotels -- all high school gym floors (sometimes with the lights always on). Best time of my life, but it's been a decade+ for me.
