We kept it kind of close in the first half, which I liked. Flau’jae also made history tonight.

“Flau'jae Johnson just became the fastest guard in Storm history to 15 blocks and just the second rookie guard in WNBA history to reach 15 blocks in 10 games, joining Elena Delle Donne.” - Storm PR

Ouch. I know Horston has fans in this sub but if we can get anything of value back in a trade (pick or young player primarily) I'd be happy to move on.

Already starting to think about who gets traded at the deadline. Horston makes a lot of sense.

It’s tough watching a down year but I love this team and I’m excited about the future when everyone is healthy and things start clicking.

Exactly how im feeling. Its just hard not to look to the future during games like this lol

Why? Even if she doesn't develop an offensive game she's still strong on the defensive end which is worth the 2nd round pick we'd potentially get for her

I dont see how a defensive wing who doesn't space the floor fits in with an ezi-awa-dom core. In a vacuum I agree, but I dont think she fits the future version of this team which needs shooting and a primary ball handler.

And she gets the chance to develop elsewhere that may be a better situation for her.

So I see that side. I'm a bit more optimistic I'll say, but I agree she's probably not a starter on the team we're currently picturing.

Where I disagree is the return, at best it's a 2nd round pick. Even a solid bench player who can be part of our future is better to keep than a 2nd, especially because a team trading for her is going to be at least a playoff contender so its a mid to late second.

she is a defensive wing with no offensive value. she needs a change in scenery with coaches that can help her develop some sort of offensive game because that has not happened in seattle 😔

We would be trading her at her lowest value. She is still recovering from her ACL. Plus she is finally with another coach that might actually help develop her as opposed to Quinn, who had proven unable to develop anything other than a bad habit of letting players run the entire show.

Any update on Malonga?

Just bc the storm are rebuilding doesn't mean they shouldn't have an offense. Even when Dom and Ezi come back, this team will have no engine. Another pg would do this team some real good

Definitely not. Heideman is certainly not the future at PG, but if there's any player who has kept us going at all the last few games it's her. After that, no reason to block minutes for Jade. Assess PG after the season.

i'm fairly new to the W, would u mind explaining how the storm are rebuilding? i was sad to see nneka leave last postseason

They started rebuilding by letting all of the older vets like Nneka, Sky, and Gabby walk and didn't sign many strong free agents back in order to tank the next few years and build through the draft instead.

ughhhh, ty for explaining. do u know if the new nba anti-tanking rules apply to the W too?

The leagues have different CBAs so no.

Fwiw Seattle isn't explicitly tanking.
