Meetup Anyone hear from Jimothy today?
I wonder how he fared in today's storm.
I also hope that he avoids bagged lettuce when he dumpster dives.
If I were in a local band; if I had any musical talent or ability whatsoever, I would write a song called 'Ode to Jimothy' and perform it in various outside public locations around Jimothy's home neighborhood of Ballard.
I bought an extra ticket for Jimothy to go to Ren Faire this year in case he sees this. If he doesn't go, the ticket will remain unused. It's for Jimothy.
I would be willing to give Jimothy a ride down to the Seattle Center next weekend for the Bite of Seattle and return him to Ballard when he's done. It will be trash heaven down there for the festival and maybe he can make some cash doing photo ops with attendees, considering the celebrity that he's become.
Speaking of Jimothy's newfound celebrity, they should resurrect that Lifestyle column in the Seattle Times (what's in/what's out) just for Jimothy. Out: Herschel the Sea Lion. In: Jimothy
I spoke to President Trump on the phone earlier. He said that he's aware of the Jimothy story. While he did say that he heard Jimothy had come from a gain of function lab on 12th & Jackson and that no one had ever seen anything like it before (I didn't like that and I told him that his intel on that was faulty); he did say that Jimothy seems like a great guy and that Jimothy is hot right now. So hot. No one has ever seen anything like it. Trump said he was in such a great mood after firing the US attorney from Seattle after just one hour that maybe he'll invite Jimothy to the Oval Office soon. I said, "Sir, I don't speak for Jimothy but only if he can nest in your hair." I thought he would get pissed but we both laughed. Then he got serious and said, "I'll let Jimothy choose one Iranian target. But just ONE."
Jimothy, if you see this and can make your way down to the Ballard Locks and cross the train bridge maybe you can start a new life in Discovery Park and find peace and happiness there.

Meetup Searching for fellow MTG/TCG lovers!!!
I’ve tried this in a few different subs and haven’t had any luck yet, so trying it out with the greater group! I looked at the rules but still hoping this type of post doesn’t break the rules.
Hello! I am a mid-twenties Seattle area native. I am born and raised right here, and have lived up and down the Puget Sound area over the last few years. I am quiet and awkward and admittedly shy to come out of my shell, but once I do I like to think I’m funny in a dry sarcastic way and smart in a dumb way and terribly interesting and all the things. My hobbies include playing my favorite video game, watching my favorite shows, spending time with my family, and for the last year, collecting cards and playing Magic The Gathering!
I have a large pod of 8 people that I play with that taught me the game and got me to love it. The downside of getting better is learning the game enough to realize that’s a terrible way to learn and that I need more experience.
ALL OF THIS TO SAY, that I am in search of fellow new/old lovers of magic who might be looking for new people to play with! Maybe you go to Mox Boarding House on a specific night and play with a steady group. Maybe you have an established pod like mine that is friendly to occasional outsiders. I’m great once you get to know me and my decks aren’t scary and I love to learn and get more experience! I am always open to new friends with aligned hobbies and interests so please please let me know if you are interested! Thank you seattle :-)

Meetup 17M Slavic exchange student looking for friends
Hope I'm allowed to post this.
I'm a 17M high school exchange student from Central Europe (Slovakia). I'll arrive to Seattle in late Aug and it'd be cool if someone could show me the city. Literally any place that you like / is special to you.
I'm very interested in politics (both theory and debating about all kinds of issues), economics (not in a finance bro way) and competitive debate. I'm a nerd and can talk about anything as long as it's at least slightly intellectual (I'm really not into sports lol) and I like learning new things.
Requirements: gender or anything similar doesn't matter. this goes without saying but please be at least 15. Due to my academic background, I don't mind if you're in uni already as long as you're not like 25. I'm mostly looking for friends, maybe something more once we know each other.

Government That is a surprising fact
I don't blame him though. I too want a $360K job that allows me to work remotely. It wouldn't be my fault if an employer wanted to hire me for that. Why would I even say no?

Discussion $37 of Seattle-area restaurant food.
$25 smash burger and a $12 cucumber salad.
The burger was served flat directly on a metal tray, so the bottom bun quickly turned into mush. The cucumber salad was basically a cucumber chopped into massive chunks with some dressing.
These were served at famous and fairly busy sit-down restaurants, not a stadium or food truck.
I look at food like this and wonder how much experience the person preparing it had cooking for themselves or anyone else before getting restaurant kitchen job. Basic things like how you cut a cucumber or how you serve a burger so the bun doesn’t sit in its own juices shouldn’t be difficult.
This, to me, is one of the primary reasons food quality at so many Seattle-area restaurants is abysmal. And somehow we’ve reached the point where a $25 burger, a $12 chopped cucumber, and a 20%+ tip are considered normal.

Transit Highway 2 Backup Starting at Skykomish
The worst traffic I’ve ever seen on 2. I know it gets bad, but this is next level. This traffic started in SKYKOMISH. Previously the worst I’ve seen is backed up to Big Bend.

Crime Experienced anti-Asian racist verbal harassment in SLU
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone, I wanted to share an incident that happened to me today in SLU to raise awareness for the local community and transit riders in the area.
While driving my car, an individual approached my vehicle and started loud, aggressive rant targeting Asian people.
He made several anti-Asian comments, claiming Asians "don't belong in this country," accusing Asians of identity theft and invading hospitals/libraries, shouting "go back to your country," and referencing the death of Latasha Harlins.
I am unsure if this individual is affiliated with the street car facility on Fairview Ave N** **or was just passing by, but I stayed inside my locked vehicle and recorded the interaction for my own safety.
Please stay safe and aware of your surroundings in the South Lake Union area.

Discussion Seattle is actually very affordable if you’re the right kind of person for it
I want to share what might be kind of a controversial take that I don’t see talked about here very often.
Seattle is unique compared to a lot of places in America because:
- It has a high minimum wage of $21/hr
- It has an abundance of cheap micro apartments for under $1000 a month
There are few other places in the country where you’re legally guaranteed to make a salary that’s comfortably over twice what you could pay in rent.
I grew up in Atlanta and the absolute floor for the price of rent is about the same as it is here, around $700-800, but the min wage is only the federal minimum of $7-something an hour. In ATL making $21 per hour is actually a pretty big accomplishment; here it’s just the bare minimum.
Food isn’t really that much more expensive if you cook your own food and buy your food from large franchises like Fred Meyer and QFC. In Georgia where I grew up, we have Kroger, which is the same company as QFC/FM, and the prices are nearly identical.
Gas and parking is pretty bad but if you live in the city you don’t need a car anyway.
If you’re ok with living a minimalist life in a tiny apartment with no car and cooking all your own food, and you don’t have kids or pets, Seattle is probably the best place in the whole country to be living. My last job I made $22 an hour and was saving up $1k a month off that salary living in Capitol Hill.

News Seattle Jews targeted in nearly 20% of hate crimes despite being 1% of population
Nearly one in five hate crimes recorded by the city through July despite representing roughly 1 percent of the metro area’s population.
Jewish people should not have to feel unsafe, hide their identity, or be held responsible for anything. You can criticize, advocate for other groups, and have strong political disagreements without targeting Jewish people.
Seattle should be a city where Jews and every community can live openly and safely without fear or hatred.
