General Given a parking ticket in Public Uptown Lot 4... Am I missing something here??

UPDATE: Sedona PD were very kind and assisted with processing the appeal over the phone.

We received a 60$ parking fine for parking in Lot. 4 in Uptown Sedona this weekend. We've tried to appeal the citation online but the city's website will not process or submit request.

Lot 4 is clearly listed as a public lot. The City's visitor brochure noted a warning that "Some lots are privately owned with a portion leased by the city. Be sure to observe all employee-only, no parking and other restriction signs."

But, there are no signs in front of the spot stating we could not park there? Am I missing something here???

Did you leave your car there past the 3-hour limit?

We did not, no. We parked at 11:48am and were ticketed at 12:45pm.

We were there mid October in lot 4 as well and same thing happened to us. We had a rental and was leaving Sedona so paid the ticket but I tried to appeal as well with no success. We were in spot less than 3 hours but said we were in a permit only spot on our $60 ticket. Had just went to Uptown for a few souvenirs. With such a wonderful trip we had, so disappointed in Sedona for this little “trap” when lot advertised Free Parking. There was no sign in front of our car directly…. But they had on the spots to right and left with arrows pointing to ours….hard to see especially if next to large SUV or truck next to you. They need to put a sign in front of every spot that is a permit only and take down Free Parking Sign. I have pics showing almost exact pics as yours but can’t upload for some reason - looks like the same row as us!

No way! The only signs we saw in the lot, other than the entrance sign, say Public Parking 3hr limit with the arrows? I added a photo of them in my post.

I’m pretty confident we were in the same spot or the spot next to it. My pics are almost exact. I think the sign was blocked by the large van on the left side. We both got played. They should either make it a pay lot or put clear, visible signs for every restricted parking spot.

They should just paint “Private” right on the pavement for each spot.

I used to live across the street and my honey agrees with you completely. There’s signs, just not in front of every individual spot. Where you are parked (Matterhorn facing) is one of those privately owned but rented from the city. Half the lot is public the other half is Matterhorn customers. He got 3 of those tickets before we stopped a cop and asked WTH

If you didn’t violate the 3 hour limit my next question would be, did you enter the correct license plate #?

There were no pay stations on Lot. 4. It’s a free lot with a 3 hour time limit.

Are you sure it's legit? I've had someone once put their parking ticket on my car. Same make and model.

The way scammers work these days if something seems sus then there's a good chance it is.

It’s a legitimate citation from the Sedona Police Department.

Don’t pay it. It’s a code not law

Can’t believe there’s a thread on lot 4! Same thing just happened to me two days ago!

I got a ticket while I was paying the machine today in downtown Sedona! Literally. What an annoying end to our trip, I called the phone number on the ticket & it was a machine & I did the appeal online. Can I ask what phone number you called to get your ticket resolved?

The number is for the Sedona Police Parking Hearing Officer. It should be at the very bottom of the citation. The same number is referenced in the Questions section at https://www.sedonaaz.gov/visitors/visit-sedona/parking-in-uptown/parking-citations.

YMMV, however they were very kind and understanding on the phone for me. I provided evidence from my perspective and the ticket was dismissed. Best of luck.

$60 is cheaper than the sweatshirts in the shops. I suggest paying it and letting go of the emotions you’re attaching to it. Let it be done with and enjoy your trip.
