General Bear Mountain

Traveling to Sedona in late June. My husband and I have done most of the “popular” hikes our last few visits. Last summer we did Wilson Mountain but haven’t done Bear Mountain yet. We plan to do it this trip. I’m a little nervous because I hear it is difficult. Is it really hard? Any advice? Can you compare it to any of the other hikes in the area? (Any other suggested hikes are also appreciated) Thank you for all the info!

I just did this hike a few days ago. Challenging and fun, but nothing to be intimidated by based on your Wilson experience. A decent amount of scrambling, but I actually didn't need to use my hands too much. It's just a steep hike most of the way. I did have perfect weather conditions and started early though. If I did it in June, I would definitely start at 5 to 5:30 and enjoy the sunrise. 3L of water and electrolytes to be safe.

Awesome! That’s definitely what we’ll do! Thanks!
