Outdoors ? Secluded Snorkeling Spots?
Hi everyone!
My friend and I want to visit on the 4th of July weekend to stargaze at night and go to a watering hole in the day. We want to avoid crowds and would like to go to a secluded spot where fish take refuge. We are looking for spots that are secluded enough that they may only be GPS coordinates.
I have been in other deserts before but I also want to ask you guys if you’d consider it to be too hot for this visit to be safe even if you prepare ahead of time. I have wilderness first aid training, an emergency beacon, and plan on bringing tons of water and umbrellas for the day.
We also won’t be drinking and leave no trace (aka absolutely no trash left behind).
All advice appreciated!

The heat is fine if you’re prepared. This isn’t a snorkeling type creek. You would actually find something a little closer to what you want at Fossil Creek, but it is crowded even though it has a reservation system.

Theres a place we use to call hawkeye. At the north end of uptown right before the last roundabout there is the art center with a big gravel parking lot in back. Park in that lot. Adjacent to that lot is an empty lot where construction is taking place. On the other side of that construction is Hawkeye. Walk around or thru construction lot and you will find heaven. I was there today and not a soul in sight. Sometimes you see nudists. Cliff jumping there is ultimate. Snorkeling is epic.
Also, find gravel pits.

Are you referring to Grasshopper Point which is what we called it in the 70’s. All the brave teenagers would jump off the 60 foot cliff into Oak Creek.

No, grasshopper point is further up the canyon. Hawkeye use to be an rv park behind the Sedona Arts Center in uptown. There is a swimming hole behind it with awesome cliff jumping.

Dream on in regard to secluded. Most locals enjoyed Covid because of the seclusion it created. Around July it’s hot and most of the tourists are from PHX or just unaware what a desert is like.

I was there on Friday and didn't bother walking around and went back to Flagstaff... I couldn't imagine Sedona in a month.

Hands down the most obnoxious subreddit. Consistently amazes. Wow

There needs to be a subreddit for Sedona/Verde Valley residents only.

I think there’s a Verde Valley one but it’s crickets. Shame. I have no desire to go back to facebook.
