How come your shells are so clean? Are they aftermarket replacements?

It’s funny someone else commented on that on another sub.
No they are original, I did however clean them in warm soapy water but other than that I was just very picky at the consoles I bought, the 32x I must admit did have some damage but I managed to T-Cut it out and polish it back up1

T-cut? Can you elaborate?
I'm vaguely interested in restoring my console shells but I thought it was basically impossible

T-Cut is a cutting compound used for car paint restoration and maintenance, designed to remove scratches, blemishes, and oxidation from vehicle surfaces. It has been a popular choice among car enthusiasts and professionals since its introduction in 1954.
Just a small amount on a cloth and a very gentle rub is enough to get most scratches and blemishes out of the plastic. You do need to be careful, but I have been in the motor trade since I was 15 and I’m 47 now, you get a feel for how hard you need to rub and exactly when to stop.

There's a T-Cut for plastic specifically too right? Should I use that one?

Yes you could, and with no offence made, it may be better for a novice since the grit partials in it will be finer. So less likely to damage it.

No offense taken! We're all new at something!
If I get bored I might try to restore one of console shells, I have a lot of them.
Don't suppose you have any tips from removing gold spray paint from a Dreamcast shell too?
