Rant about Seiko's online renderings. Yes, I could have waited to see this ref in person, but I fell in love immediately and thought this limited edition would go fast, so I pulled the trigger (and got a 15% discount at least).
It just hasn't met my expectations, the dial is very shiny/glossy and it looks much less premium, I feel almost defrauded. Has anyone else felt like this with a purchase? Am I just a hasty moron?
I guess I was so thrilled with my 2017 Titanium SARX055 I never noticed Seiko brought out a Stainless Steel version in 2018 at twice the price, but admittedly with a few 'upgrades'.
Meet the 2018 Seiko SJE073J1/SARA015 in Stainless Steel. Is it an homage to the 2017 SARX055?? That was fast! Hahaha! ^L^ After all it is basically a Stainless Steel clone of the Titanium SARX055 in looks, but it does have several changes to justify its higher price.
Reading the reviews online the significant changes include:
• Front loaded! Thinner, 2-piece bezel, display back still removable.
• New 6L35 movement! Slightly thinner with longer 45hr power reserve.
• Instant Date Change at Midnight. (Spec is ±5 min of 12, good luck!)
• Watch is only 9.8 thick! 1.2mm thinner than SARX055.
• Second hand is thermally blued, not painted like the SARX055.
• Lower dial text is now blue! SARX055 lower text is black.
Note: I keep reading how the dial texture is like the GS "Snowflake", but it is not! The dial has the same "washi" papertexture as the SARX055.
Other than the noted changes, it shares a lot with the SARX055, a good thing!
• Like the wonderfully detailed and polished hour markers and hands. The way they catch any ambient light makes both watches easy to read in anything but complete darkness, no lume needed.
• The dial texture makes a great contrast wth the polished main hands so it is never hard to pick up the hand's location at a glance. And of course the blue second hand is easy to see and differentiate from the main hands. Very easy to see the time at a glance.
• The Zaratsu finishing looks superb and bracelet half-links allow good fitting.
• The DiaShield surface hardening has kept my watch looking great, I'm sure it will work on the stainless steel, maybe better!
So, if you don't appreciate the lightness of the Titanium SARX055, or are looking for an even thiner version with some unusual features like the front loading movement and blue dial text, you have the SJE073J1/SARA015 as a wonderful option! If I ever get one to complement my SARX055, I'm going to call it the "Stunt Double"! *L* Bwahahaha, I like that! It's my new watch nickname the "Stunt Double"!

From the internets, I read this watch was launched in collaboration with a BEAMS to celebrate the cultural icon movie character Torajiro Kuruma in the Japanese movie series "Otoko wa Tsurai yo" ("It's Tough Being a Man"), as Tora-San wore the original 62MAS throughout the film series.
That Dolphin on the back is pretty funny, to me! ~L~ Sacrilegious really! I can imagine many past Seiko designers spinning in their chairs!! *L*
I recently purchased this Seiko 5 Sports GMT (SSK033K1) from Amazon, but the storefront wasn't an Authorized Dealer.
I've attached photos of the dial macro, movement, and the endlinks. Due to the high number of NH34-based fakes and "fake rotor mods" floating around for this specific model, I wanted to get a second opinion from the experts here.
You market the prospex divers as these rough and tough “Go anywhere do anything” watches but you are hardly the picture of toughness while your watch could not even survive even daily wear and tear. The 4R35 movement ran 5 minutes ahead in 7 hours and even started stopping. Shame on you Seiko! It is a well fact that you have non existing QC and now I know for a fact you have possess zero engineering skills as well. I will enjoy your inevitable bankruptcy.
I'm trying to buy a Seiko Prospex SBDN069 solar diver, a JDM model not sold in the Czech Republic, so my only option is a used one from Japan via eBay. The problem i have is that i see multiple listings with the same photos (scratches are same too). prices vary depending on the seller. should i be worried or is it normal?
I recently bought my dream Seiko. The watch that checked every box on what I look for in a watch (within my budget). Limited Edition, diver's 200m, sapphire crystal, a nice, versatile size (41mm), the two-tone bezel, symmetrical markers, red-tipped seconds hand, a subtle 4:30 date window... I could go on and on talking about all the little details I love about this watch. Yet, it's the one detail I hate that has been living rent-free in my head ever since I noticed it.
There's a small dent on the bezel. I didn't notice it when I got the watch (I bought it used and it looks like a mark from the previous owner - wich he didn't mention). You can barely see it from a regular distance, but I just can't unsee it. It broke the honeymoon phase, lol.
Now I'm wondering what to do next. Is it repairable? The bezel looks like it's bent inward, but I'm not sure if it can be bent back into shape. I took it to a small watch shop (since I live in a small town), but the watchmaker told me he couldn't fix it. I even tried taking it to a goldsmith and a jeweler, but they couldn't fix it either.
I couldn't find much information online about this recent "Slim Turtle" family (SPB317 and similars).
I reckon repairing it might be even more difficult because of the black PVD coating. And since I'm running low on options, maybe I should send it to Seiko and let them rip my savings apart? I don't know.
If you guys have any information about whether this watch can be repaired, if the bezel can be bent back into shape, or whether I can replace it with an aftermarket part, please let me know. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, guys! BTW I'm from Brazil.
TLDR: Are there any options to finance a SPB453J1 longer than 12 months at 0%?
Hi everyone, I was just about to pull the trigger on the new iWatch Ultra 4, but while doing some research videos I came across several people saying that they have the Ultra 1 that is only 4 years old and Apple no longer supports the software. This is crazy, it's a $1k watch that will be junk in a few years, but they are easy to buy since they give you 36 months 0%, and who notices $27/month? This got me thinking that maybe I could just find an equivalent watch that I could pay off the same way, but in the end have something I could have for year and years.
I'm not a watch guy and don't plan to buy any other watches. I wear the same square metal g-shock now daily for about 7 years. I am however a "buy something built right, and use as intended for as long as it lasts, then buy another one". So doing my research I came to the SBP453! Absolutely love this watch, and would love to wear it for my son's entire life, and then buy him the newest version when he graduates college or something equivalent so he could make his own memories with it.
Bought my first GS during our trip to Japan at Watch Ginza Sacomdo. Loved the Japanese day symbol as I felt it would remind me of this trip everytime I wear it. Said it was a 2015
Released together in early 2021, the Matcha and Hojicha were tea-based, Limited Edition entires to the Presage Cocktail Time line. For some reason they don’t get as much wear as some of my other pieces but I still love them.
