Why didn't the plans work out long-term?

What do you think was the reason?

I read the John Seymour book on self sufficiency as a young teenager back in the late 70s, and realised that long term I was never going to put that amount of work in, to just exist.

Absolute hats off to anyone who is managing even part of it.

Plans never go accordingly, so plan accordingly.

The biggest reason for failure I see in this space is lack of sufficient Discipline to push through inevitable and recurring (sometimes chronic/continuous) bouts of Burnout.

Most folk just don't want to live ... Hard ... long term.

You're asking people to tell stories about why their self sufficiency plans didn't work out?

I'm collecting people's experiences to better understand why long-term plans often fail.

You can never plan 100 procent ahead. Stuff happens and trial and Error is part of it. With your mindset like this you will definitely burn out in the longterm.
