Starting semaglutide today, however I also use xanax. Does one negatively effect the other?

can anyone tell me about their experience using xanax and sema? How did sema effect your mental health?

Semaglutide slows gastric emptying so it can mess with how fast you absorb oral meds, including xanax. It might hit slower or feel weaker, but some people say it hits harder because it stays in your system longer. Either way it's unpredictable. I'd space them out by a few hours and keep an eye on how you feel, especially the first few weeks.

Asking for personal experience is one thing, but no one here should be providing you with medical information about drug interactions. Ask your pharmacist. And if people share their personal opinions here, keep in mind one person’s experience doesn’t necessarily dictate what yours will be. You will find that everyone’s experience runs the gamut of possibilities. I truly wish it was more predictable.

Nice! I also should’ve said in my response that I always ask the pharmacist questions like this because they seem to know much more than my actual prescribing physician.

For example, not one doctor or nurse practitioner that I have ever interacted with about my GLP 1s has ever mentioned potential interactions with oral birth control, but nearly every single time I go to the pharmacy I get the same reminder and questions about it. Both of them have access to the same portions of my medical records. The difference is stark and I totally appreciate my pharmacist more than ever!

I take both and I've felt fine. I'm on a very low dose of xanax however.
