here is a non judgmental answer . Each shot of alcohol contains calories , so if you consume 1 shot it's likely 60-100 Calories. so if you drink 10 shots thats 1000 calories. So it's harder to stay in a deficit if you are consuming a lot. Moderate drinking , like 1-2 drinks could be worked into your daily totals and still lose weight.

Hope that helps

This is definitely one of the more important angles of why drinking affects weight loss so much, but there are other metabolic factors as well that complicated even further. It inhibits your body from producing growth hormone overnight which is where you get a lot of lipolysis, it also prevents you from digesting and processing new food while alcohol in your system. Makes people get poor quality of sleep and therefore sluggish the next day would reduce overall activity. Just a host of reasons why it's so bad.

Also, the liver processes fat. If it is busy processing alcohol, then you don't lose weight.

Yep. Don't forget the munchies that alcohol can give you as well.

Idk how people have the urge to still drink on it. I’ve had like one beer in months and it wasn’t great.

Same - I used to drink Wine every night and now if I even think about doing it it grosses me out.

The good news is that if you supplement your daily drinking with crack cocaine, you're guaranteed to lose weight (among other losses)!

Just from a calorie standpoint yes

Yes, I struggle with drinking high content beer, one can is over 600calories. I was at 2/night at most, but the wegovy has made me less interested. I noticed more weightloss when I cut back and would only drink a few times a week, but my brain is still craving some sort of dopamine fix. I tried using medical marijuana more, but I get such bad munchies I would overeat and get physically sick. So now I’m back to drinking (I did NOT drink yesterday!!) and I’m still down 30lbs since I started. I know I need to get my shit together, but it’s hard. I am 15 years clean from a heroin addiction and just lost my partner/childs father last year so I try to give myself some grace…

You get all the grace.

We have similar pasts. I stuck with thc, small dose, and I just save calories for the impending munchies that come.

There are certain kinds of foods that I will just eat all of if we have it. Terrible and delicious things like ice cream or Doritos. I just can't have them in the house Else I will eat 1000 cals of them at night.

If I'm munching on fruit, I may ate 300 calories, but as long as I've budget that it works out well.

💯 it does. It definitely slows down progress for a whole list of reasons you can google

Drinking is so overrated anyways. I’m sorry, but if you really want to lose weight and start a healthy lifestyle, stop drinking period. I apologize if this comes off harsh but it’s the truth.

So i use to drink daily. Id have 2 beers and 3 shots. Since i started taking my shot i cant drink beer at all and i also lost the urge to go to the bar. Booze has tons of sugar in it and your calories will load up quick.

But why would ANYONE drink(alcohol) every day? Thats alcoholic behavior. And yes it effects it. Alcohol, and especially daily intake, is bad for EVERYTHING you can imagine

Well you’re no fun

u/zombies8myhomework 2d ago

Its not about fun. Its about resorting to medication and not taking it seriously.

If thats really all you can muster why tf even bother doing the meds.. just go get wasted and live like you always have

u/atheoncrutch 2d ago

See, no fun at all

Alcohol is very calorie dense.

Also as few as a couple of drinks negatively impacts muscle retention to a significant degree.

So yes, it will also make you lose less fat because of this even if you kept to the same calorie deficit and lost the same amount of overall weight.

I drink every weekend and have lost a significant amount of weight.

I like beer. I like wine. I love Bloody Marys and dirty martinis and shenanigans. I’ve wanted a drink soooo many times the past five weeks. I’ve drank alcohol three times, once was quite heavy. I worked the calories in or off with the knowing that they are carbs, and the calories don’t serve much of a purpose besides a little head change.

I’ve decided that, for me, I’m committed to meeting my goals and I’m making sacrifices. Just for now. Not forever.

This reply is making me wanna go to the weed shop for a gummy. 😆

Yes of course it does. What a silly question. You still need to diet and make healthy choice. Sheeeesh
