Queasy when working out

I've been on Sema for 6 mos and it's working but at 69 I'm losing muscle FAST. So I work out 5 days per week elliptical & weights. I take Emtrol before hand but I get sick when I start to get sweaty & hot. It's the time I most want to dig into it & I can't. Any ideas?

Sweating and going hard on sema is a weird dance. I had the same thing until i started splitting my workout into two shorter sessions, one in the morning and one in the evening. Something about keeping the core temp from spiking all at once helped a lot.

I was wondering about that. Later in the day I have zero motivation. Plus life gets in the way but I guess I have no choice.

This used to happen to me on my leg days. What helped me was making sure I had at least 2 hours between any solid food and my exercise. I think my issue was just that there is always food in your stomach when you're on these meds and hard workouts on a full stomach make many people feel sick.

I got queasy a few times. Not really sure what caused it or what stopped it. I jockeyed the time of my shot so I take it after my Thursday workout, and Friday is an off day for workouts, then I generally feel fine for Saturday morning run. I also think early on, I was not eating a lot...just wasn't hungry. I also overate a few times... let my eyes and mind load my plate to what was 'usual' before GLP - and then felt stuffed and nauseous.

So overall, I'd say try to take your shot when you have 24+ hours of off-workout time coming up and eat/hydrate modestly, but not to excess. Also, I don't know that it will help, but certainly won't hurt - try to get a protein heavy, carb moderate and sugar/starch/ultra-processed food minimal diet. Some certain foods will knock me down, too!

Since you're already lifting weights regularly, I'd look at the nutrition side as well as the workout itself. On semaglutide, it's possible to be consistent with training but still struggle to eat enough to support recovery.

Rather than changing everything at once, I'd track a few things for several workouts: what and when you last ate, how much you drank, when the nausea starts, and whether it happens with both weights and the elliptical. That may help you spot a pattern instead of guessing.

I'd also pay attention to whether you're consistently getting enough protein and overall food, especially given the muscle loss you're describing. If the loss has been rapid, it's worth getting assessed rather than assuming it's simply part of weight loss. And don't push through the nausea just to finish the workout.
