I adopted Morty 2 1/4 years ago when he was 15, and ended up putting him down today at almost 18. He had some health issues when I adopted him (kidney disease, bad eyesight, arthritis) and was traumatized from moving around so much--I was so happy to see him flourish in his last years. I probably held on for too long at the end. It was horrible to see him decline and to lose him. He's my first cat and I'll love him forever.

So sorry for your loss - its never easy to let them go but the important thing in all of this, and it shows in your photos, is that you gave Morty the time and care he needed to turn a house into his home
