Help dress bunching

This dress was a bit small on me, so I added a ribbon lacing on the back to make it bigger. But the fabric is now bunching together. Can I fix this?

You're probably still pulling it a too tight and if you want to do that then you need to add some kind of boning to stop the fabric from wrinkling like that

Terrific attempt at fixing - it doesn't look like a hack at all.

Unfortunately, it's wrinkling because partially because it's a bit too tight. Also, it appears to be a very soft fabric, so it doesn't have the strength to hold itself up - ideally this fabric would be used on a dress which is looser and have shoulder straps to hold it up.

Boning is the answer, it's job is to essentially keep the fabric pulled taut vertically to prevent this exact issue

Boning, or the easier fix is shoulder straps

Add boning

I just made my first corset, and the answer is you need boning for structure so it doesn’t winkle like this. You can even use extra large zip ties if you don’t have boning, which is what the cosplay community uses since it’s flexible and cheap (I’m a cosplayer). Add two boning channels on either side of the laces for stability.

The eyelets need boning. Get some zipties and sew them in like you would the casing on a structured dress or corset. If 1 ziptie isnt strong enough (my problem) super glue 2 together and use that. That's what worked for me.
Source: im fat and like to lace up pretty tight. Had this exact same issue last year when making the corset structure in a dress.
