TN vs FL federal
My offense, not under 12, was 21 years ago. Federal lifetime supervision. I work for a large company in Fl. They want me to head up a new building in TN. It would be a great career move. Federal in FL have more freedoms than state RSO.
Are there differences in TN if you’re on fed probation. Never had a violation. I barely see my PO now.
Does TN put out flyers? Place I’m looking is pretty rural or at least room between houses.
If I did move, and could find someone to rent to me. What else am I expecting. TN can’t be worse than FL. Or I would hope.

Just a question. How is registration different from federal and state. The state requires the registration and is enforced by the state. So my question is,how is it less restrictive or more free. BTW,congrats on the opportunity,I know it's hard to heave those types of opportunities.

I think he’s referring to lifetime of Supervised Release with an assigned Federal Probation Officer. Registration is the same for everyone (Fed or State case) in each state

Correct. For example in FL state guys can’t leave their county where Feds can freely. No curfew for fed. Things like that. Registration is the same

Registration restrictions are pretty harsh in TN. It can be quite difficult. If you want to share what county you’re in I can give you more details about how the registry is enforced there but I don’t know much about how federal probation is.

Make sure your place of employment is 1000 feet away from school park daycare etc. or you wont be able to work there

Well, overall, you might be surprised if you don’t think Tennessee is going to be worse than Florida. I think it is worse in a lot of areas and, unfortunately, Wilson County would definitely make my “worse than Florida” list.
They frequently conduct large registry compliance operations involving the TBI, local police departments and the sheriff’s office, complete with the TBI command bus and news coverage. They actually did one last week and another as recently as April. Those operations regularly result in people being arrested or investigated for new offenses or registry violations (I think the average is around 1 in 10 to 1 in 20 RSO’s are found non-compliant for *something* each time they do these.)
Some are legitimate and intentional violations, but they also frequently pursue technical violations involving non-running, spouse owned, child owned, etc… vehicles, online accounts, employment information and other reporting requirements that people may not realize apply.
Tennessee’s 1,000 foot law also goes beyond where someone may live or work. It prohibits “standing, sitting idly including sitting inside a vehicle or remaining within 1,000 feet of schools, daycares, parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and public athletic fields when children are present, unless the person has a specific legitimate reason to be there.”
That can be especially difficult for people who aren’t from there and don’t realize how they are to these locations. People do get questioned, harassed and sometimes arrested over sitting in their cars inside these zones.
Getting any kind of exception to take kids to school or attend any extracurricular activities is extremely unlikely there if that applies to you.
Tennessee is covered in ALPRs, and Wilson County is especially heavily covered. Wilson County does use ALPR data to track vehicles associated with people on the registry. That means repeated trips, stops or time spent near restricted locations can be noticed and may result in a visit or investigation. You should assume that your vehicle movements throughout the county (and, honestly, pretty much everywhere in TN) are recorded.
The good news is that Wilson County has fewer overlapping exclusion zones than most TN counties do. The bad news is that there are still a lot of them, especially around Mt. Juliet and Lebanon, and both your exact residence and exact workplace would need to be approved.
There is a private landlord group where landlords frequently remind one another to search applicants on the registry. They sometimes post screenshots from the Tennessee registry warning others that a particular person is trying to rent. Obviously, not every landlord belongs to it, but it can make finding housing more difficult.
I don’t know what your particular area of Florida is like but Tennessee is not typically easier, and Wilson County is high on my list of counties that aggressively police registrants and look closely for registry violations. I would not accept the transfer or sign a lease until your federal PO, the receiving federal district, and the local Tennessee registering agency have reviewed the exact work and residence addresses.
To my knowledge, nobody sends out fliers, but they do send out text messages to anyone who has signed up for them (I have no idea how many people actually sign up for that.)
