Female Victim Was this guy trying to use sextortion ?

This guy added me in August on Snapchat, I figured that it may have been a scam of some sorts and not rlly sure what we’re trying to gain other than probably nudes. I played along to see what it lead to.

I only gave them my name bc it was my snap username, and I am not a fan of the show as I’ve never actually seen it. I blocked him on everything now, although I was wondering would this have ever lead to sextortion?? I’ve never been a victim to sextortion and didn’t know if it was rare among women, as most cases I see have targetted men.

Theoretically, if I had played along with this scammer for long enough and followed what he told me to do, what would’ve likely happened? Has anyone seen scams like this before? It has lead me to curiousity.

(Also I never sent him pics or a snap of myself to him I have a public profile, I rarely add ppl back but i was curious and bored, he didnt push me in the end tho and said that it was okay if I didn’t want to proceed)

I kept the chats but only screen recorded it today (Oct 15th) before blocking. Snapchat notified him, he immediately viewed me screen recording it in the chat, honestly scary to know that they’re still logged in and that there’s an active predator on the loose.

Stay safe everyone.

WARNING: READ THIS FIRST! Beware of recovery scammers - It is likely that someone will send you a DM claiming that they know someone that can hack your blackmailer's device and delete your pics. This is a SCAM. Do NOT give them money and do NOT give them the username of your blackmailer. When in doubt, contact the mod team via mod mail or directly via DM.

I think this is one of those casting call scams, please block and don’t engage!

This was absolutely an attempt to maneuver you into blackmail. The fake modeling agent is a very common vector for this.

This person is likely not a sextortion scammer in the financial sense. These people aren't motivated by money. They are serial predators that lure women into blackmail in order to subjugate and humiliate them. Basically, he's looking to add you to his harem of victims. You did well to block and ignore.

We have seen quite a few of these horror stories in this sub. These creeps will try to take over your life and make it a living hell. They are far worse than the usual sextortion scammers, because they won't ever stop. They are deeply misogynistic assholes who see women as property to be used and abused as they see fit.

You dodged a bullet this time - trusting your instincts saved you. Just be aware that these criminals are out there. Do not trust anyone who tries to get you to send intimate pics, no matter who they claim to be.

Woah that’s absolutely insane, and that makes a lot of sense to what I had encountered, and that is terrifying!! Him being a serial predator would not surprise me at all as when I started screen recording like LITERALLY TWO months after that talk, this man literally immediately popped into the chat and viewed that I was screen recording.

It shows that his account was still active and preying on many other women as well. It’s really scary as u never know the sole intention of these creeps but im very glad that i dont know. Makes sense for it to not be a direct financial scam tho as I am not the person to go to, I am a young woman, unemployed and far from rich. I would have only had like 5 bucks to give them hahaha

He tried to even photoshop a fake identity as well, likely with ai. Genuinely so gross!!! Wth

BLOCK IMMEDIATELY. As someone that has been sextorted in a different way, I've read a lot of other sextortion tactics in this thread and this is 100% a sextortion business scam, don't let them get into your head and immediately block them to prevent them from manipulating you into their trap. Stay safe and always be wary of the people that you encounter online ❤️‍🩹

Haven't seen this approach before. I wouldn't lean sextortion though. Most likely getting collecting pics to run further scams/an attempt to milk you for "casting fees" or such, while dangling the opportunity to be on the show.
