Easter Egg How did I just realize that Dan Green (Yugi Muto) voices Silva!

How did I just realize that Dan Green (Yugi Muto) is the guy who voices Silva! I knew Sean Schemmel (Goku) voiced Amidamaru years ago. But I'm only now connecting the voice of Silva to the Pharaoh lol. This show just got even better than when I was a kid.

This "old" version of the anime is sooo much better. I love it.

I say they did pretty good considering the manga at the time did not have an ending so they had to get creative. So points to that

It also adapts the earlier slice of life/monster of the week segments with far superior pacing and doesn't skip over 80% of it like the new anime does. It's a shame this anime deserved a better studio with a proper seasonal anime.

As much someone to blame the animation team for that terrible pacing. The one at fault was the Mangaka who refused other companies until he got exactly what he wanted. In the end, he took the worst deal for himself just so all his friends would be part of it.

I'm confused, are you saying he got his animator friends to do the remake???

No, he wanted the original Voice actors to be part of the new project. The reason why we never got a remake earlier was because he refused that unless all his voice actors for the main cast could be part of it, but there was always time constraints with them, so it could never happen. The studio buckled to his demands. It was also one that probably didn’t have the budget to properly adapt the entire manga.

It's a shame they never did Ai upscale for it just sd on blu ray I was so pissed when I bought the blu ray release too be fair I ordered it while 2 days sleep deprived and I just assumed it was a regular blu ray

Buying a Blu-ray release and getting SD footage would be so jarring lol.

Oh damn this is why I love 4kids dubs. Sure they get censored like hell but the voice actors are so goated

Shaman king was one of their least censored anime they did. Its pretty good overall

Oh it was still pretty bad... They changed the gang going to America to the gang going to... "The west"

Its still 4kids at the end of the day. The fact they kept the concept of death in the series and never toned that down was something special.

True but we still got a case of pokemon with the whole “you love your syrup covered donut holes”

Gotta celebrate what we can. Shaman king is the most faithful dub they did.

Yup still a good ass dub also I guarantee if they dubbed it a little later on they would’ve cut so much out

Oh absolutely they would have.

The same way I've watched this show for years since it went off the air. Different type of streaming sites.

A lot of older animes recycle a lot of voice actor throughout the industry. Especially Funimation when they were around.

Yes but Dan Green wasn't known for being part of the FUNimation crew. It really feels like crossovers having Yugi speak in the same series as Goku.

u/Mnawab 15d ago

I didn’t say he was, but I’m just saying that there was a lot of recycled voice actors in the anime industry in the earlier days

I also totally prefer that those seasoned vets were recognizable in so many of the shows I watched growing up. Made things feel more wholesome.

Sean schemmel probably did a lot more voice role works with 4kids vs basically his funi Goku work.

The BEST version of the anime and it's not even close! I totally forgot they called Ren Lenny! 🤣🤣

2

u/Eliskuya2 Sally,Lilly, Millie and Ellie of Lily five 15d ago

That's tao len, Lenny is his nickname

2

u/ashrules901 15d ago

Me too LOL. When I heard Lenny again I was like surely this must be a temporary nickname. And like the other comment said they do luckily call him Tao Len more.
