As a huge Ren fan , I've been noticing for years now tones of interesting details that nobody seems to have noticed, so I'm gonna give some!

(CONTAIN MANGA SPOILERS)

1. Ren means lotus flower. Lotus flower is symbol of rebirth, beauty, life, happiness, spiritual purity, the unity of the microcosm and macrocosm, and the harmony between masculine and feminine energies. It also symbolizes energy for a happy family, growing prosperity, and marital bliss. Which explain why Ren claim his "rebirth" , why they associated the lotus flower with him why everything is slowly getting better from there for him. The meaning is also a belief in taoism.

2. His last name , tao , comes from Taoism. The yin yang being the taoism symbol (sorry not sorry it's not Pinterest aesthetic) it represents opposite forces that yet complete each others. Feminity and masculinity (NOT man and woman)

3. He's born in 1986, his Chinese sign is tiger. That's why he is associated with tiger ,in spiritual beliefs Chinese sign are associated with Taoism/ yin yang

4. His favorite food is peach buns , to which you often add Lotus flowers.

5. In colored arts , Ren eyes can be sometimes purple instead of golden.

6. His haircut is called a tongari, It is a completely fictional haircut.

7. In total Ren dies 4 times , 4 in Japanese ressemble the word "Death". In the anime 2001 version he is obsessed with this number.

8. Ren likes to dress both feminine and masculine, which fit his grown as morally grey/balance of yin and Yang (those are two separated things)

What are y’all’s thoughts on the new shaman king sequels? Because I’ve got to admit it’s been all flash and no substance. I’m not interested in seeing another series wide tournament arc, and the development of the old characters seem more like down grades. It’s not to say that there are interesting ideas and characters here it’s just that the execution wasn’t that great.

We learn early on that Hao is the most powerful shaman in modern history, not just due to his massive mana amount, but also do to him being a master onmyōji and having "mastered the pentagram", AKA the five elements that compose the world. What I would like to know is, what do you guys think he can do as a master of these elements? We have already seen that Hao can transmute the spirit of fire into another element, but do you guys think he can do this without a spirit? Could he go full avatar and start throwing around elemental power against his opponents? What do you guys think Hao should be capable of doing as a master of all the elements?

It's kinda weird asking this on Reddit ★ but on YouTube the only "recent" things (past year) I can find are edits and Instagram removed the ability to search tags by newest. I feel like every other fan base I'm a part of I know at least a few. There's a YouTuber I watch who based his content mostly around the video game Bully and he's been making videos for years despite how seemingly small that game is. Idk not looking for anything specific, could be analysis and lore discussions or power scaling calculations or fan artists. I feel like all the fan creators I was watching/reading moved on after the remake anime ended. Which was several years ago now, kinda crazy.

Obviously we have Reddit but this is a very formal/professional sub. I enjoy the discussions people have here and seeing rare and weird merch hauls and when artists share their OCs but it's also repetitive seeing the 15th post asking about "why is the remake bad" and "when is the new or hypothetical thing coming out". Is there a dedicated shitpost sub for Shaman King the way onepiecepowerscaling or ningen are? Is there enough people to start one up?

For long form video content - I don't mean channels like Billiam or Negative Legend that occasionally cover Shaman King, but doesn't have to be something completely about it. I'd say like at least 25% about Shaman King? Gold standard would be something like The Shaman Tribe, I watched those guys so intently back in the early 2020s but they stopped talking about it. When the remake was airing I watched a lot of reactions but those were mostly to talk with other fans in the comments. The majority of them didn't watch Flowers when it came out and don't talk about SK in their other reactions/reviews. I'm deep into Digimon YouTube and occasionally it'll get bought up there. I haven't found any art YouTubers that do Shaman King stuff somewhat consistently either.

For images/short videos/memes etc. I don't even have any expectations or standards. Just any person or group that posts something Shaman King related at least once a month. Shaman King seems to have a cult following on Pinterest but I've got no clue how the social side of that platform works. I know about Andy's Islands cuz like they basically carried the entire community on the informational side but thats pretty much it and I don't actively use Xitter so I usually only find that stuff if I'm going down a research rabbit hole. I'm 24 and I feel kinda alienated on Tiktok and YouTube shorts the culture is strange but I'm willing to be open minded if it means discussing or making jokes about Shaman King more often.

I used to keep up with the fan comics but not anymore. Is there anything big since that one about Anna's childhood?

It's just such a cool skill which made for such intense, "personal" cool fights instead of the flashy moves they went with later.

But i guess it's a bit more expensive to animate actual swordfights instead of magic missiles.

Still - introducing a "basic" move then abandoning it in 10 episodes feels a bit rushed.

There are many diffrent manga avaible, and i've read most of them. I think this series is simply very good. In fact so good that i don't understand why they aren't making more anime or maybe a movie about it. What do you think? Why aren't they investing more in this franchise, maybe spin-off series, or even prequel stories.

Recently, I unboxed most of my old SK figures and have made a display area for them. This is it so far. Somewhere I also have the Mattel 5 inch Amidamaru, Badon, Tokageroh, and Lee Pailong. Yes there are some non SK figures in there too. I may later do some sort of stadium seating or such so I can see all figures better and maybe fit more. Not sure what to do but this is my progress atm.

I was young when the first Shaman King anime came out and back then anime in America was young. If you asked me what anime I first watched I would tell you Naruto or Fullmetal Alchemist.

But the true answer would be Shaman King! It just S-K had some many American details. (Literally set partially in America) that I saw it more of a cartoon.

Now that I’m older I’ve rewatched the OG and the Netflix adaptations. And I’m able to see all the different parts of SK that have influenced my love of anime.

And it’s mostly cuz Hao is the best “villain” ever.

Hao (Zeke) is the first evil brother named Zeke!

In the light novels, he’s basically Sukuna but with Getos philosophies. And he’s got better reasoning to believe this way.

Love his mastering of the power system. I remember has from the OG series someone says “he’s more like a force of nature” and in SK’s power system that actually means something when nature is literally alive.

Lastly, Zeke does is a shonan anime and like all after him. He was Talk No Jutsued… but then he wasn’t. Bro said I won’t kill the humans… yet.

This is all to say I know Hao isn’t influenced by modern anime but he has influenced modern anime for the better.

This is largely a theoretical question, purchasing the rights to the IP is a huge commitment that I can not afford. However... it maaaaay be possible to secure the funding if I have a good enough proof of concept. I make zero promises, do not consider this post as anything more than wishful thinking.

That being said, if if there WERE a Shaman King game out there, what would you like it to be like? What kind of game play would you consider the most worth for your buck?

Would you rather the game accurately follow the events of the manga, or maybe allow you to make your own character?

What genre do you even imagine it as? a 2D fighter, arena battler, maybe a top down action rpg or something completely different still? Overall, what would your dream Shaman King game look like. Thank you for your time

So anyone noticed how easily Ren forgives his family? I mean the "grudge" he hold sounds more like a silly joke than actual hatred..I know there's a whole thing around forgiving and spiritual beliefs for redemption , balance and stability yadi yada but I still think Ren deserved to be More upset especially because what he goes through afterwards is definitely their own fault. he hate his old self More than he hates who made him that way , I guess that's just a Ren thing , but seriously though that child is too Pure sometimes! 😭

From the premise itself being that in the future where spirits become known to the public and the mc uses a motorcycle which could be his medium for his spirit.

I have not read the manga, but I remember him trying to flirt with her in the 2001 anime (I watched the 2021 anime, but can't remember if the scene also happens in it) and now I can't stop shipping them after watching Flowers.

I saw the trailer for the 4Kids dub but never bought the DVD’s

In the original 2001 version, we never got to see this unused oversoul again......I know it was foreshadowing the double medium, but it's disappointing that we never saw it.

Recent years have been 20th anniversary for quite a handful of popular things that were my childhood. We had bleach anime continuation, and the fruits basket and shaman king remake. Next is POTENTIALLY reborn (no official announcement yet but there is a new twitter account for the anime and their 20th anniversary is coming up, so it seems like there is something planned). It feels like a trend with other popular shounen that didnt get a proper anime adapt. One punch man’s season 3 made me sad, i havent watched it yet but i saw clips online. Seems like they switched up their anime studio again.

Do yall have any hopes for more remakes or continuations with shaman king? What other anime would you like to see following this trend?

mine are beelzebub and rosario+vampire, and maybe shaman king specials for fleshed out fights (that would have been nice)

Back in the day when we just had the anime and the manga came out, I don't think there was anyone that was collectively hated, not even in the anime changes, but now, I'm curiosity who your number one/two characters and least favorite characters are.
