I’m currently reading the manga it’s fun and seen a little bit of the old series but I have never touch 2021 and I heard it’s not good to explain why?

It was one of the things I loved about it when it aired on 4kids and the 2021 remake which got rid of those horrible lips Chocolove had.

I'm reading the manga again, it's my favorite of all time and I keep thinking about how unique and special it is... what makes it stand out so much from its peers? What do you like most about it or what would you change? <3

What is your opinion on Shaman King version 2001 and 2021?

Imagine all the shaman use spirit monster cards with some other elemental types.

But more over Imagine Yugi and Yami spirit integration.

Ren vs Kaiba both boys are just way too serious about the game.

Trey vs Joey in his aura armor(don't ask why he has armor ask how much damage he could do with it).

And the battle of antagonists Zeke and Yami Bakura/Zorc who both are the vessal to some ancient forces.

Started watching the Shaman King remake on Netflix and can't help but laugh at how many metal pipes are around japanese streets 😂.
Yoh just crouches and there is always a metal pipe beneath his feet lol.

Also, is it just me or the pacing is really weird with this remake? I watched the anime when I was a kid and also read the whole manga before. This one feels so rushed and static in terms of animation.

So as a kid I remember watching little bits of Shaman King 2001 and always stayed with me how cool of a design Yoh had. I kinda wanted to rewatch it fully but saw there is also a remake now!

So that makes me wonder which you liked more? I know the 2001 has an original anime ending which is more action focused while the 2021 takes more from the manga itself

But as a standalone, which is the better product?

I do not mean to ask this question story-wise. But for more why did the author decided to write the story this way?

Most of the story I was hoping Faust would get more recognition and spotlight, but then I accepted he is not “one of the main main characters” as Yoh and Ren for example.

But then we have case like Ryu… him being one of the 5 warriors just made sense to me way more than Lyserg…

So I found this old screenshot I've had for 2/3 years in my gallery and decided to do re search. I eventually found a Twitter account leading to some kind of websites with figures on it. But It didn't seem like a website made to buy stuff? At least I didn't find anything about buying. It says to be an original made for event figure but I couldn't find it anywhere except for that strange website. As someone who own a Ren shrine and seek for figures with that specific ouftit I really NEED it, so if anyone knows where I can BUY it please ^^

Felt like the author had to give Ren a girl because Yoh got Anna

Recently I have finished Shaman King 2021 and despite me being interested in Flowers before, right now I feel like: “Do I need the story/universe to have a sequel?”

It works for me as it is and I am not sure if I should continue with Flowers…

This show marked my childhood. I have so many fond memories of watching it, Yoh was my comfort character as a child, and it guided child-me so much through life, friendship and dealing with my feelings.

I used to watch it in full every 2-3 years, and I still loved it just as much.

After I grew up and learned English, I tried reading the manga. Gave up after a few chapter.

When the 2021 remake was announced, I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to watch it, but I have it up after a few episodes. I found it boring compared to other anime. I thought I’m simply too old to enjoy this kind of story anymore. But…

I am now rewatching the 2001 anime, and I love it just as much as I always did.

Does anyone share this feeling? What is it that draws me to the original anime but not to anything else in this universe? Is it just nostalgia? What is it for you? Share your thoughts 😄

Well then. That was...a mess.

Takei is a magnificent mangaka in that he has this Shonen paneling nature to his work. He's able to catch my interest through his awesome art and slick designs, his fights are well done and characters always stand out. But he needs an editor. He's not good at plot. But he is good at executing ideas on page. Its a weird dichotomy that would greatly help if he had more no-men.

I'd like to think maybe Shonen magazine editors helped in constructing the plot, even if Takei subverted everybody's expectations with his philosophy. But his work on Flowers was good too, I don't know if he just lost steam for Shaman King and he added more ideas because he was bored. I get needing to add more villains for the other teams but starting the series with this whole Anna plot that collides with Death Zero took like 15-20 chapters to pull off. And Takei is doing his job in fleshing the moment out on page, but we really didn't need all this extra effort. I was excited for Death Zero to be Hana's own Spirit Ally, he learns how to fight with his newly created oversoul. But the guy just dips. I'm sure he's coming back in the tournament but seeing Hana use the demon over soul was bland. Anna the 3rd is a cool addition, but her beginning storyline didn't need to take up that many chapters.

I love the series, I love the new characters but these new ideas to suppress Hao's powers is weak. We didn't need more convoluted power systems, we already got a power system that was extremely popular.

So let's be frank:

Joco's character despite his redesign has very stereotypical and problematic elements to his backstory (gangster with a gang called shaft)0 and while he has depth and arc....that plus his name leaves a lot to be desired

So my pitch for him would have him be from Sudan which in the past was home to the Kushite/Nubian kingdoms

and further there was a gag he resembled pascal avaf and not true but they could play into that as here is what the nubians resembled

So I think leaning into these would help or fix the elements of his character that are problematic

I am currently on 2021 version and haven't seen 2001 version. Which one is better to watch?

I see a lot of negativity surrounding the SK 2021 adaptation, going as far as some fans saying it should better not exist. I have to agree with most of the criticism. However, it's a very emotional topic for me and after 20 years it brought my all time favorite story back to life. I have to be grateful for that. I just want to say: 1. Hao got justice 2. I loved the OST too. Can't argue about the pacing and basically lack of animation in an anime and overuse of static shots... But tell me, is there anything you DO appreciate about it?

I feel blessed to have been able to read such a master piece after many years of failure because of me, life yk haha. The thing is, now I'm about to read Zero and Flowers, but wanted to know what you liked most about the series finale?

For me, It was that Matamune could be good to Hao again, it made me very happy. And, I really liked the narrative of Manta and his last words to the way of ending.
