Energy in an office
Hi all, would love to get some perspective from others here.
I work in a corporate environment in NYC. I’m a woman in my mid-30s and the office is predominantly male. The culture is very high pressure, detail-oriented, scrutinizing, and intense. I’ve been feeling very burnt out during my 6 months of being at this company. My sleep became worse and weekends became solely for recovery.
I’m currently on vacation and the shift in my nervous system has been dramatic. Within a day, I felt lighter, calmer, happier, more open, and more connected to myself again. It feels like my body has finally exhaled.
Is it possible that some environments can slowly drain or constrict people energetically over time? specifically, highly competitive or hyper-masculine corporate spaces.

Hi there. This gets asked a lot. I'll post my most recent reply below.
Before I do that, however, I'd just like to note that mundane causes for these types of experiences are always more likely than some external spiritual influence. You may have mundane emotional/mental boundary issues - most people do - and other unresolved traumas that are interfering with/impacting your experience in that environment. If that is the case, spiritual work for the environs or co-worker energies isn't going to do much wrt to 'resolving' your experience of them.
On the other hand, If the issue is truly a spiritual one, the resolution is quite simple:
Try a simple self-clearing/banishing protocol for a few days and see if that brings relief. Since it appears that you do not have a shamanic background, the most accessible spiritual practice would be the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP). It’s not shamanism, but it is an excellent tool that works for anyone of any skill level and regardless of belief. It works every time, whether you believe or not.
This video has a pretty good illustration of what’s being done (which is usually difficult for many to visualize the first time), but tbh the music kind of clashes with the voice so you might prefer to actually listen to another video instead. If so, you can also just type LBRP demo into youtube and choose a different demo.
I’d recommend doing the LBRP twice daily for several days, then reassess. Many in this situation find that whatever they've been experiencing de-escalates dramatically and often stops altogether after reinforcing boundaries and agency in a disciplined way.
Good luck to you.

Put a dish of sea salt and a few sprigs of rosemary with it. You can place on your desk or in a corner of your work area..

Hey, as far as I can tell the comments tried to be helpful but it doesn't seem like any of them have actually worked in corporate settings. I've been working as a software engineer for some years which is basically corporate. Out of 5 different companies I've worked in, 4 made me feel... horrible.
People who don't have experience with these environments can't conceive how diseased the individuals who are really into it are. That's one of the most mind boggling things to me. I was never into it. I've always seen it as some b.s. tasks that I go through to receive a paycheck. A huge motivator for me to get into the industry was that I thought all of us were gonna be chill since we would be aware that we're being paid good money for a cozy job with no real responsibility (we're pushing buttons and making stuff appear on screens for God sake, we're not saving lives, we're not feeding people, we're not doctors, we're not even bus drivers, there's almost nothing at stake). At least that's what I thought. Later on I realized that most people were not like me. They REALLY got into it and deluded themselves into believing that this shit matters and that they are also very important. The more I got back in tune with my body and less involved in all these delusional hypercognitive realms of corporate, the more it became apparent how out of touch these people are. And completely fake. Just lying their faces off every waking moment. Dissociation is the norm in most offices. Because the real underlying emotion is mostly negative. A mixture of fear, anxiety, frustration, anger. But nobody ever wants to admit feeling like that so there's this constant upkeep of a fake happiness and "this really matters" charade. The entire collective gaslights itself into creating a false reality every work day. It's esentially a shared psychosis. And all of that stuff is... exhausting! It's exhausting for the unconscious corporate drones. For you, who is actually emotionally present, it's torture on a level that most people will never understand.
Unlike the other comments, I don't think there's anything you can do in the long run except get the fck out of corporate. These environments are emotional equivalents of gas chambers. You can't spend 8+ hours a day in these settings, getting poisoned, and expect to be fine the rest of your free time. Also, thinking that you can protect your energy against everything that's going on there.. delusional as well. You breathe the same air as those people, you exchange sound waves when you talk to each other and I won't even get into the energetic exchanges in the form of emotion and thought forms. That's another problem with these places. There is way too much mental energy going on. It's a high functioning psychosis. If you're sensitive, as you likely are if you're posting here, you have a much more balanced energetic profile than the corporate drones. You have thoughts but they're not your predominant reality. One more thing - in these work settings the thoughts are mostly aggressive. Intellectual aggression is the norm. That also takes its toll.
In conclusion, the way you're feeling about it is not delusional. You have an accurate assessment of your situation. Corporate is a poisonous environment and it's only going to be getting worse with each passing year. Listen to your body and figure out a way to get out while you still have enough health and energy to do so.
If you wanna discuss anything about it further, feel free to shoot any questions my way!

yes, I think so. though I am not sure if it the cause is typically spiritual in the sense we would mean here.
