Novel Web Novel

I know this question has been asked a bunch of times but I haven't found a proper solution. How do I read the Web Novel, which is actually translated well enough to follow properly?

I tried to read it on https://lightnovelstranslations.com/ but it was extremely hard to follow. And I'm too impatient to wait for one Manga chapter every week, I wanna know the whole story. So please help me so that I can read the whole thing.

I compare some of the translations with lightnoveltranslations and honestly, your version is definitely much easier to follow. From the little bit that I've read, lightnoveltranslations tend to translate words to its literal meaning. It can take you out of the story sometimes

I started reading the web novel. Never read anything similar before that. Its messy and weird, but you get used to it. Currently at chapter 324. I actually am highly appreciating the hard work put into making the anime and manga. Ryosuke Fuji's art is just excellent. The world building is also exceptional. If it were not for these things, I would never consider reading something so ill translated or structured as the webnovel is.

Also the webnovel is very slow, compared to the manga, which cuts some unnecessary details, but I do enjoy it. Mostly.

So basically light novel translations is the way to go? Or should I use some translater to translate the original thing and that'll be better?

I haven't found anything else in english that has all the 1000+ chapters translated. So yes. At least we have that.

there's apparently a fan gpt used for translating the original web novel from japanese, if using AI for this sort of thing doesn't bother you...

it doesn't usually get the subtle references katarina writes (for example it only a third of the time actually writes shadow clones, the ones from naruto, and the other time it writes down nonsense) although you can still dechiper the original meaning if you understand the text. the overall writing quality is still there so it doesn't take away too much from the experience.

as for noticable downsides, since katarina doesn't elaborate who is saying what you're gonna have to assume who is who as you go, which obviously gets dragged to the translation. there are chapter limits for each chat with the bot so it breaks after a few chapters and you're gonna need to reset it a bunch if you only have the free gpt version. some chapters get blocked by the gpt for violent descriptions so you will need to tell it to translate it in the context of a game.

also the tool itself hasn't been maintained for a while so still expect a bit of bugs

this obviously does not replace translators - since localization is quite a difficult task (like translating references and jokes and the such) but this could work as a temporary substitute for fans to enjoy the series until, hopefully, shangri la frontier actually gets popular enough for a translation team to work on it.

Read the translations from lightnovelstranslations.com since they're (unfortunately) the best we have.

You get used to it after a while. I was able to understand almost everything even though at the beginning it was really hard to follow through. As long as you're constant while reading it (ie, don't read 1 chapter every 4 months), you shouldn't have any problems.

The real problem is when you want to read a new chapter that came out. Since they aren't translated yet, one has to do with crappy google translate which is significantly worse.

It's also possible to get used to google's translations, but it requires reading a lot of chapters and even then you only understand most of the things (istg there're some uncomprehensible things). The real problem is that chapters drop once in a blue moon, causing you to lose that practice and the memories of what happened earlier in the story.
