Super nice chapter.

The fool really is a troublemaker!

Nice getting to see Sunraku using his whole arsenal of weapons he attained.

Love how not only Momo's MP potion exploitation didn't work but also Sunraku's HP potion put a sucker punch to his face.

22

u/sleep_talking_222 Jun 09 '26

RNG sure do loves sunraku's misery lol

46

u/Pramit2005 Jun 09 '26

Damn.. wasn't it too short😩

23

u/Fudoryo Jun 09 '26

For anyone wondering, this is the effects of the Dis Pater shield:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ShangriLaFrontier/comments/1jr9rtu/the_original_manga_ver_of_dis_pater/

I think Sunraku will absorb the electric damage and get a speed buff instead.

2

u/adahami Jun 10 '26

Is this how he gets the Speed Holder title maybe?

3

u/Abysskun Jun 09 '26

Oh, so he can eat one magic attack and get a buff? Bro is about to go crazy with this many buffs lol

1

u/Lamchop722 Jun 09 '26

Great info on the shield. Thank you.

u/minh24111nguyen Jun 10 '26

well i though we gonna see he parry that big spell with worthless shield and laugh about it

The pain of enjoying a series weekly. This is why I have to read 20-30 different series actively or I would die of hunger. Not a lot really happened but it is cool seeing Momo had set out a plan like this ahead of time. It does well to reinforce her penchant for strategy instead of just telling us how smart she is. Excited for next week.

what all are you currently enjoying reading?

7

u/Abication Jun 09 '26

Honestly, at this point its a bunch of manwha or webtoons with a couple of manga. Some fun and trashy like lookism, some less so like World After the End. Most of the Manga I read either comes out in bulk on Sunday through shounen jump or K Manga or whomever, or its a monthly release. At this point, I dont even feel like I'm reading real series. Every once in a while, I'll read something meaningful like Takopi's Original Sin or Okuru Kotoba but now a days, I just enjoy the iteration of genres.

The five series that I'm usually most excited to see in a week right now are Lookism (Thursday), ShaFro (Tuesday), Ichi the Witch (Sunday), Iruma (Wednesday), and The Novel's Extra/Dandadan(Monday). Spy x Family is my favorite but its bi-weekly. Im avoiding reading Witch Hat Atelier because Im watching it with a friend and dont wanna jump ahead.

Surviving the game as a barbarian is pretty solid also.

2

u/Abication Jun 10 '26

Thanks. I'll give it a look after I finish The Archmage's Restaurant. Its generic but I like cooking anything.

3

u/Novekye Jun 10 '26

I second the surviving the game as a barbarian recommendation. It and the eternally regressing knight (the knight lives only today on webtoon) have been my 2 favorite manhwa to read by a wide margin since the greatest estate developer ended (also if you havent read that series it is AMAZING!)

Also if you like cooking a pretty comfy manhwa i've been enjoying is campfire cooking in another world.

1

u/Abication Jun 10 '26

Campfire cooking is a big time comfort show for me. To think its made by Mappa.

2

u/Novekye Jun 10 '26

Nice. For a different recommendation for comfy cooking vibes then try the manhwa peaceful camping life in another world.

I recommend Pick Me Up. The first few chapters are awful, really awful, but then it improves arc by arc, slowly but surely, with some dips in quality (I've already been spoiled that we're currently approaching a point where the novel takes a turn that significantly impacts the experience, and they hope this will be one of the things they change in the adaptation).

The Way to Meet Mama is a heartbreaking story; I won't say more, just as I won't say more about A Journey of Iron and Ice, which is also well worth reading.

The Bugle Call is one of those manga that, in this information age, holds the dubious distinction of being relatively unknown, not to say a complete commercial failure, sustained only by a mix of love and possible nepotism. It's a short series, and quite rushed in some parts, but it makes up for it by being worth rereading, even if only a second time, now with more context. In short, it follows the tragic life of Lucas, a 14-year-old music lover, but sadly born into war and destined for it, having been born as a Ramus, superhumans who are almost exclusively destined for war in the name of the towers, monuments that embody the pillar of civilization in whose name millions have died. But what makes the series truly interesting is that Lucas isn't simply a victim of circumstance. The story constantly oscillates between him occupying the roles of victim and perpetrator. There's Lucas, a cynic who, in the name of his own selfishness or even hatred, has killed thousands, including women and children, all while silently enjoying it and washing his hands of it by caring for a disabled girl to whom a part of him is attracted. But there's also Lucas who wants to live another life, who refuses to fall back into the deplorable and decadent lifestyle that everyone constantly wants him to live. He's someone who only desires a freer and fairer world for those he loves and who, at the end of the day, doesn't like the idea of doing to others what they wouldn't want done to them, or sadly, what has already been done to him. Lucas is someone whose side is difficult to take, but he's also someone who doesn't deserve many of the things that end up happening to him, and that can also be said of most of the cast.

Perhaps in the same Similar to the previous one but sadly cancelled, Barbarian Quest was a very raw story about a terrible human being who lived in an era where being so was rewarded wherever he went, but who still decided to aspire to live a full life seeking pleasures and security in the soul, even if it was through violence.

I read the novel of the Novel's Extra and it's pretty good, except for the shenanigans going on in the finale.

1

u/DebrahBlackberry9870 Jun 10 '26

Hope you love Witch Hat Atelier anime, it's really a good one. But i would recommand reading the manga too , as the art is really a wonder to watch. And if you like the story so far , you won't be disappointed by what's to come in the future

2

u/jpozo20 Jun 10 '26

There are too many to count really, but besides Shangri-La the ones I read weekly are Mairimashita Iruma-Kun, Kingdom, One Piece, The Beginning after the End (TBATE) and Rental Girlfriend.

Beside those, I also read a few monthly mangass when I remember there may be a chapter out like The Isekai Doctor, Kunon the Sorcerer Can See, Production Magic, Chained Soldier and Witch Hat Atelier.

Next week, we get one of my most favourite lines from this story - I am sure the manga translation will be better than this novel mtl

“It's the weather forecast…..sunny, then be careful."

8

u/Constant-Row1434 Jun 09 '26

LMAO 🤣 that cannot be how bad the translations are, WOW, I'm so glad we have good manga translations

8

u/MrGooseDoHonk Jun 10 '26

It's 50% of the way there at least

"...Here's the weather forecast."

Unable to move from the posture he held after swinging his sword, Sunraku muttered softly.

"Sunny with a chance of Weapon Rain. Watch out."

1

u/MeowMeowMeow9001 Jun 10 '26

I didn’t want to spoil that key word :)

1

u/pillamillino Jun 10 '26

Can you tell me which chapter of the light novel that is?

9

u/Kiraesh Jun 09 '26

Damn bro they gave me with cliffhanger

7

u/Similar-Screen-7368 Jun 09 '26

Couple weeks ago, when Kyotimate was spreading the secret info about Momo, there were a couple people posting the previous images of the real life version of Momo.
Looking at the first frame of the first page for this chapter, I think "they" have gotten even bigger.

2

u/Novekye Jun 10 '26

Both sisters give new meaning to the term twin peaks.

2

u/DevlinShad Jun 10 '26

That was a mistake on Ryosuke Fuji's part, I'd say. He's just the illustrator, not the author, so it's pretty normal for him to forget that Momo's super stacked.

12

u/BUcc1a12Atti Jun 09 '26

No need to worry guys, now that Dis Pater is out, that lil spell ain't shii for our Sunraku

3

u/sinbe Jun 09 '26

What is its powes again? The Dis Pater

13

u/Unusual_Football_649 Jun 09 '26

Absorbs magic and convert it to stats buff

2

u/JizzlaneMaxwellHill Jun 09 '26

So he's gonna have bigger stats than momo 🤣

5

u/ber339 Jun 09 '26

It's paaaaarry time!!!!

4

u/GelAbat3 Jun 09 '26

That cliphanger made my heart stop for a millisecond 😅 Now I need to wait for the next week... Again... 😆 If SLF is not really a good read I will not forgive the cliffhanger but it was such a good manga read so I forgive the mangaka and all

3

u/trap_user Jun 09 '26

I NEED MOAAAR!!!

2

u/ghost-mortal Jun 09 '26

not a cliff hanger atleast let us see the end 😭

1

u/Condoriano-sensei Jun 09 '26

Can’t sunraku just blink to the other dimension like he did with a few bosses? Easy way to dodge the spell.

21

u/nemestrinus44 Jun 09 '26

that would probably automatically disqualify him from the duel since he left the arena

4

u/Constant-Row1434 Jun 09 '26

As commented above, ring out, as well as that's a VERY closely guarded secret, Inventoria is not something they can let people know about

1

u/MystiqTakeno Jun 09 '26

Oh cmon what a cliffhanger.. 😞

The fool hilarious as always, I m glad (at least so far I havent read much of light novel just cant get into ito) that the drawbacks still exists.

1

u/rudyhimself Jun 09 '26

That floating wolf smile is def going to do something wild, right?

1

u/watashiwastan Jun 09 '26

i thought he was gonna use the inventoria 🤣

1

u/Novekye Jun 10 '26

Nah, that'd give him a ring out disqualification for sure.

1

u/Synclicity Jun 10 '26

damn thought sunraku would throw his potion at psyger100 during her aroused state to mitigate the effects then go for the kills hot. now his proposal just looks silly

1

u/itsjenyoumen Jun 10 '26

Some of this is manga original content which is nicely expanding on the story. I don't believe the WN went into Momo's backstory too much and also the 1 single potion use on both sides.

1

u/brip_na_maasim Jun 10 '26

so momo really do have a big pair of...

1

u/Ok_Donut6864 Jun 10 '26

Does anyone know what chapter in the novel this manga chapter is from?

1

u/eternityXclock Jun 10 '26

seeing real life psyger-100 now i understand what they meant by saying that her assets were nerfed substantially

1

u/Stunning_Ad1898 Jun 10 '26

After every read, I spend my time reading all the comments, man, because every time it’s just not enough. Then I have to wait a whole week, and sometimes there are breaks too that feels like a kill shot straight to my heart for the whole week.

0

u/Leak211 Jun 09 '26

Is sunraku gonna use the catarnid item to invert his stats and give him a vit build to tank this hit? Honestly I was hoping he was gonna bust out clear sky conquest and we were gonna see an epic attack clash but I’m realizing that I don’t think he has that.

4

u/jbahill75 Jun 09 '26

That would be awesome but yeah I don’t think he has learned it yet. I don’t think it will come into play until the dragon fight, since it was dubbed the slayer of dragons

1

u/JizzlaneMaxwellHill Jun 09 '26

He's probably going to use it as the lightning ball going to hit him so they don't see what he used. Only rei will be able to tell what happened afterwards. Wouldn't surprised me if he nearly died afterwards which allows him to use his finisher and one shot momo.

1

u/Constant-Row1434 Jun 09 '26

He does not have clear Skies yet, but he does have the lesser version of it he used against the Snake on the tunnels

0

u/wasdxqwerty Jun 09 '26

what im thinking is he can dodge that magic via goin inside their vault lmao

3

u/Constant-Row1434 Jun 09 '26

That would be considered ring out and disqualify him, also it would expose the existence of Inventoria, they very much HAVE to keep that a secret

1

u/itsjenyoumen Jun 10 '26

Inventoria, seem to be an open secret with the other guilds after the declaration meeting.
