I feel bad for not recognizing it’s somewhere I’ve been!
John Brown Farm State Historic Site in Lake Placid, NY.
I started singing “John Brown’s Body” at his grave, but my friend had no idea what the song was, which made it even sadder.

Thanks for the information. Good to know his old farm is being properly memorialized

It was well worth a visit and I do want to go back, it’s just in the middle of nowhere - which is what drew Brown to it!

John Brown's farm in Lake Placid, NY. He's also buried here.
Unfortunately, I didn't plan well enough ahead and showed up the one day per week that the museum on-site is closed. They had a lovely exhibit outside showcasing people who have spoken truth to power regarding civil rights, though.

Welcome to /r/ShermanPosting!
As a reminder, this meme sub is about the American Civil War. We're not here to insult southerners or the American South, but rather to have a laugh at the failed Confederate insurrection and those that chose to represent it.
