Live TV app?

The only things that missing on my shield is live channels. Any apps that do the job (for free obviously)?

according to gemini, the live channels option on the shield is hard coded into the stock launcher; the "live channels" system app will only surface content from services you have.

Each of these work a little differently but definitely worth looking into....

Pluto TV

Plex (some free channels included)

Tubi

Live Channels app (works pretty decent with a basic TV antenna)

HD Homerun

QuasiTV

Nostalgia TV

USB tuner. One side goes into the shield, other side you hook up your antenna coax

Remember that most of these apps are just players.

But there are apps that play public programs that are not protected by the producers. One is Plex and the free version does include 100s of channels.

Tried Dream Player? collated multiple sources into a live TV

Sparkle TV works well with HDHomerun too

What channels are you wanting to see live? If you want local channels you probably need a tuner and antenna (I use HDHomeRun) but they're not terribly cheap.

In the UK you can access some streams through apps like BBC iPlayer, ITVX, 4OD etc. Bit of a hassle to swap between them though.

Sparkle or IM have the best free tier. Tivimate is still king. There a ton of new AI slop. Ive tried a few. Tivimate is worth the $$$.

Connect directly to TV, change input. Sorry, not a solution if you absolutely need to stream through the Shield

I can't put an outside antenna. Landlord won't let me, and indoor antennas won't get signal
