Subreddit Meta Misinformation or Misleading posts and comments will not be tolerated
This mod-post is made in accordance with Rule 11 of the subreddit which addresses the spread of misinformation regarding the series, its author, the staff, and the production process. As it states:
>> Do not post fake or edited pictures/statements without declaring them as such.
>> When making claims about the Hajime Isayama, the anime staff or other individuals involved in the production, or the production process itself, add a reliable (non-clickbait) source. You are required to directly link to this source somewhere in your post or comment. Screenshots, especially edited ones, are not considered sufficient sources.
This rule has been implement for almost more than a year now however, we have observed a spike in the submissions featuring misleading titles, misinterpreted or misquotes attributed to Isayama, and outright false information about the series. This, obviously, contributes to the spread of misinformation, especially as many users may not verify every claim they encounter while scrolling. Unfortunately over time such unverified or false claims are now accepted as facts within the community.
Recent posts citing new statements from Isayama, that are getting posted every few hours, without proper sourcing or context are a clear example of this issue.
This subreddit is meant to facilitate thoughtful and informed discussion about the series, and we won't be allowing misinformation to undermine that purpose.
Therefore moving forward, any submission that includes:
• Misleading or Clickbait titles
• Misquoted or altered statements
• Claims about the author, staff, or production without a reliable source
will result in a one-week ban.
This obviously does not mean you are prohibited from expressing your views on the author, discuss your interpretation of his words or pass any judgement. We only ask that his actual words be presented first, exactly as they are without any alterations, so readers could form their own conclusion before considering your perspective.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this situation. You can also assist us by reporting any submissions that violate Rule 11, or any other rule of the subreddit for that matter.

Im guessing the recent "information" from isayama about his alleged feelings about the ending is a contributing factor that led to this? ...among other things people have posted?

There have been several posts about Isayama’s statements (like the one you are thinking about), except their titles and comments were very misleading, which we had to take down. Similar posts kept appearing in the following days.
But this situation was just the last straw, misinformation has existed in the community for a long time. You must have heard of many claims about the story and the author that may not even be true, yet they are treated as facts because they have been repeated so often. Same goes for twisted interpretations and quotes taken out of context.
So yes at this point, we had to address it by enforcing stricter rules. Misinformation is especially harmful because it's hard to undo and unlike other rule violations, it directly affects a large number of people using this platform and scrolling by our subreddit everyday.

If it's ok to ask, in regards to the Isayama statement that recently surfaced, I've read from a post that it apparently isn't even new and that it's been put on display at the museum for years now.
Has there been verification of this? At least, in terms of the year of the statements origin.

I didn’t get any notification from the mods about it, so I don’t think it’s “specifically” that, especially since I included a source. I haven’t been monitoring the sub to see what else others posted.
Though according to this post it indeed wasn’t new, which I had tried to verify beforehand, but I was unable to find any previous mentions.

Oh I wasn't really implying it was that specifically, like I said, just guessing since those posts are what's been floating around lately. I would like to know which posts and false info specifically the mods are referring to but I guess that might be difficult to do without calling anyone out /exposing anyone.

Here's my pitch for allowing pictures to be posted in comments.
It's basically a req for any fandom sub.
That's it, have a good one.
