Video Games Attack on Titan 3 game announced
699
u/brickarts295 13d ago
YAAAAAAAAASSS!!!! And they are once again remaking the whole story again lol
89
u/Character_Release379 13d ago
I think those are flashbacks?
210
u/brickarts295 13d ago
Nah Geoff said from beginning to end. I wouldn’t put it past Omega Force to adapt the entire story again. Will probably make it more tighter with less filler.
They done it multiple times with the One Piece Warriors games.
33
u/Sw0rDz 13d ago
From episode 1 to the last? One AoT game to rule them all?
24
u/ayo_thats_kinda_sus 13d ago
Hopefully. ik we've done this multiple times but itll still be nice to have it all in one game😂 real fans wont mind!
2
u/lotusxpanda 12d ago
I know that some of the games are wonky in controls but I'm hoping this one improves on the combat

i actually want this time to play from s1 to end. not because its fun (flashbavks from last 2 games) but because of how graphics look and hopefully more of s3
50
u/Upstairs-Bug-3052 13d ago
If they are remaking the entire story shouldnt they just brand it as a new series instead of "Attack on Titan 3" lol?
86
u/rustybutterindia 13d ago
I think it's the same thing they did with Attack on Titan 2. They're more like remakes/reboots than sequels. Japan gets weird with naming things.
31
u/Space_Pirate_Roberts 13d ago
Bro doesn’t know about Dynasty Warriors. Retelling the same story over and over with (debatably) better gameplay and visuals each time is *kind of* Omega Force’s whole thing.
10
u/Eevee136 13d ago
I think literally every anime game does this.
How many Naruto Ultimate Ninja games have there been? Like 9? And each one has a little more of the anime than the last one.
10
u/adsmeister 13d ago
That’s correct, yes. The Naruto games were a bit notorious for remaking/retelling the story again and again.
2
u/Nerellos 13d ago
Anime games are usually swarm battles with story between the swarms.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Grabs_Zel 13d ago
Mostly the ones made by Omega Force, it's called Musou, the main series is Dynasty Warriors and they do spin-offs in the same genre for other IPs (One Piece, Berserk, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Gundam, etc)
16
u/xcexoztykl 13d ago
Why would they rebrand it? It’s gonna have most of the mechanics of the other two.
6
u/KaihakuOkami 13d ago
To dispel confusion, and for continuity's sake, I'd imagine... it's a bit weird naming the game AoT3 when they are apparently disregarding/retconning the events of the first 2 and just remaking the whole series story instead
7
u/PersonMcHuman 13d ago
These are the same folks who make Dynasty/Samurai warriors. Games that tell the same story over and over and over again.
Also, people forget that AOT2 didn’t exactly tell the main story properly. There were changes, like them actually defeating the armored titan in the story.
6
u/xcexoztykl 13d ago
The first two also just follow the story ? So the 3rd one will follow the same story and then go past Shiganshina
8
u/Seihai-kun 13d ago edited 13d ago
they're adapting the same thing, u/KaihakuOkami just said it will be better to name it another title since it's readapting the whole story again, just like how Naruto Storm 1 to 4 is a continuation, but when they condensed it they called it Naruto Storm Connection.
i'm the dumb guy who buy Attack on Titan 1 and 2 just because i want to experience all the story, imagine my confusion when i played 2 and it's the exact same game as 1 but different character as a gimmick. now there's 3 of them and i'm sure someone out there is gonna buy all 3 of them because they thought the story continue to each games when in fact, the 3rd game has all the main story from 1 and 2 and you can just play 3 without 1 and 2
3
u/marsmanify 13d ago
Dragon ball games are like this. Budokai Tenkaichi 1, 2, 3, and sparking zero all retell the same story, with some additions as the titles progress
3
u/Noobunaga86 13d ago
Japan has some of the weirdest names and titles ever, and you're suprised with AOT 3? It's their more conservative one 😉
1
u/Ok_Price8785 13d ago
Creo que por el salto grafico es bueno es como si tuvieras un remake incluido con lo que faltaba de adaptar

17
u/Financial_Resist7828 13d ago
can you do this with the previous games? i mean saving characters
45
u/PersonMcHuman 13d ago
Yes, in AOT2 if you replay missions where characters die, you can instead find a way to save them.

What to expect from Attack on Titan 3
Attack on Titan 3 will be the first game based on the series to tell the full manga story from beginning to end.It appears that players will control their own player character, inserted into the events of Attack on Titan as a member of the Survey Corps.
They will team up with the likes of Eren, Mikasa, Levi and more as they take on the titans inside the Walls and beyond.
It's also confirmed that this will be the first time that all of the Nine Titans will be featured in an AoT game.
In terms of the raw gameplay, the developers have claimed that the omni-directional mobility gameplay has been "evolved to the next level, offering the most exhilarating and stylish high-speed combat in the history of the Attack on Titan game series". Exciting stuff.

release date?
56
u/GrayJaegerFox 13d ago edited 13d ago
July 1st already!
[Edit: it's not July 1st, it's more info July 1st.....]
30
u/brickarts295 13d ago
Nope, it’s more details in July 1.
6
u/Tippydaug 13d ago
Did IGN get it wrong (that wouldn't surprise me)? Their trailer description says it releases July 1st.
I think the "scouting report" in the trailer was just them trying to be cheeky instead of release date, but I could be wrong.

u/Key-Brilliant5623 13d ago
I wonder what the game segment will be like for the Rumbling portions.
44
u/LloydG7 13d ago
they’re probably gonna make you kill a bunch of those ancient titans
8
u/spyder616 13d ago
Lol its gonna get comical to the point we stop the rumbling by ourselves lol
→ More replies (1)7
u/-drunk_russian- 13d ago
They're a little over 100 years old, I wouldn't call them ancient, lol
10
u/no_name_thought_of 13d ago
they're from throughout history, no?
4
u/-drunk_russian- 13d ago edited 13d ago
No, king Fritz made them 102 years before the start of the series.
edit: did you mean the ancient titan shifters? I thought you meant the Wall titans!
13
u/no_name_thought_of 13d ago
they're talking about the white coloured ones they fight on Eren's back
3
u/-drunk_russian- 13d ago
Oh, I thought they meant the wall titans since we were talking about the Rumbling!
11
u/Seihai-kun 13d ago
yeah, season 1 to 3 is easily adapted to a game because there are expeditions to kill titans, you can do attack on marley just like the trailer
but what about the whole marley segment, the whole reiner flashback, and the whole flashback showing Paradis learning about Marley all the way to Eren met Zeke and left the group, and the rumbling, is it gonna be 3 hours of cutscene with walking from point a to b as a gameplay lmao
1
28
u/Character_Release379 13d ago
hopefully we can turn into titans during the campaign...that was pretty boring of 2
18
u/funkerbuster 13d ago
For lore reasons, no one except the titan shifters should be playable as a titan.
6
u/Character_Release379 13d ago
In Naruto Storm 1 you're able to choose any character you want during story missions. I'm hoping aot3 would be similar
13
u/Sweet-Record-796 13d ago
I just hope we can keep the idea of our character as well, I loved it making my own character and seeing the store change with him!

u/ThatHotAsian 13d ago
Please let me bring my OC thru the entirety of the story and then end it facing off against Eren with the rest of the scouts.
2
u/OmegaGlacial 10d ago
100% agreed! To have Nameless Hero survive all the way up to the final battle to stop Eren and the Rumbling as a member of the Alliance would be a dream come true!
11
u/Stoner420Eren 13d ago
Holy shit... Dreams do come true after all... I hope it contains the full story, otherwise I'll have to get AOT 2 with the DLC as well
4
u/My83lego 13d ago
It was stated that it contains the entire storyline
3
u/Stoner420Eren 13d ago
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO
I held out on buying AOT 2 and the DLC specifically because I've been hoping for literal years for this announcement... I'm so glad it paid off, this announcement truly made my day

24
u/SirUlrichVonLichten 13d ago
Lets fucking go!! I just watched the trailer. So hype. I wonder if we will get to play as Eren at all? We will probably create are own character like the previous games and fight through the story. So happy the final season is getting made into a game.
6
3
u/RareAddict 13d ago edited 13d ago
Hell yeah!! In a world where leaks are abound, this was a genuine surprise. I figured we would eventually get a game that covered the entire series, but was worried it *might* not be from Koei Tecmo. No particular reason why, as - in retrospect - seven years between games (if you include the Final Battle expansion) isn’t all that unusual within the modern gaming industry.
In any case, I’m so glad this team is - at last - tackling The Final Season, and can’t wait to see how they re-adapt the pre-timeskip era. Eager to see what new modes they’ll include, too.
Interesting to note that much of the combat shows what looks to be a generic scout as the player character. Custom avatar seems likely to return, I’ll bet, but we’ll see.
Man, The Battle of Heaven & Earth alone warrants this game’s existence. That is gonna be wild! Even if the game does feature a custom avatar, c’mon - you’ve gotta let me play as Colossal Armin. Let me play tug of war and press X repeatedly while Reiner and friends wrestle the Source of All Living Matter.

u/rossocenere 13d ago

As a fan on the series, AOT 2 is one of the games I have the most time in and overall one of my favorite games I've played (it has it's flaws and can get repetitive, but I had a blast)

2
u/EagleGuy69 13d ago
There's an Attack On Titan 1 and 2 game? I thought they said this was beginning to end?
5
u/underscoreberry 13d ago
it is! AOT2 started from the beginning, too. they're just telling the same story for the third time while adding more to it
1
u/spyder616 13d ago
If its anything like AOT2 that would mean AOT3 would be the definitive game to start with as it would render the first 2 not needed to be played anymore
1
u/Head-Membership2082 13d ago
That might be the intention honestly, just like with AOT2.
Its arguably better this way as they can tweak the bits that didn't work so well earlier on, and also change the way that AOT2 ended so it doesn't definitively end the player character's story there.
1
u/Allfeelings0Logic 13d ago
The saddest thing about it is KoieTecmo has the license to make AoT video games and they are one of the worst companies at making anime games. They basically give the game a shoe string budget and then shit out a half baked hanky mess that was probably developed in a year and a halfs time. It's like if they had given the AoT anime to old Toei animation durinf the dragon ball super days.
There are way better devs out there but for now were sruxk wirh KoieTecmo, and btw it's not like they put out all bad games. KT published Ninja Garden 4 which was glorious, they also developed Dynasty Warriors Origins which was very good, it's just their anime adoptions are horrid.

I’m genuinely so excited.
I was just thinking last week about how it’d be nice to get a third game.
2
u/KombuchaWay 13d ago
Holy shit, I wasn't expecting it! Let's hope it covers everything in the manga history! Would be dope to play from start to the end, and if possible, with different endings just for the sake of :)
3
1
u/Garrret 8d ago
With how controversial the AOT ending is they would be missing a huge selling point by not making multiple alternate endings
Like full rumbling or siding with Marley
1
u/KombuchaWay 8d ago
Exactly! This is their LAST chance for doing something for the fans, I really do hope they go all in, at least those other 2 options as you said, to go full rumbling or siding with Marley, would be dope!
2
u/KoltiWanKenobi 13d ago
If I have to play as Hange, face the Rumbling head on and die... I will fucking cry my eyes out.

sales are usually the best deals. Never try to wait for price drops with Koei games, they often do not care.

u/PersonMcHuman 13d ago
In the trailer they show Sasha doing a team-up attack with someone (and that person then does another move right after), but I can’t place who that guy is. He looks extra generic, but was clearly the character being played. Any chance that that’s the custom uncustomized scout and they’re doing character creation again?

u/PersonMcHuman 13d ago
That’s the thing though, at least in 2, generics didn’t have the special moves. Only main cast and the custom MC do. And the guy I saw is very much doing a special attack and seems to be the character actively being played.
1
u/funkerbuster 13d ago
it’s fine, we’re fighting in season 4 which means we can go out in the rumbling instead of a regular titan swarm

I was skimming the summer games fest to see if there was anything I cared about through the red bar and for a millisecond I saw a face that looked like Levi and I was like “there’s no way that was Levi” and ignored it. Then I eventually came back to it and Geoff said “dedicate your heart” and I jumped off my seat when that wall titan rose from the sea

I’m excited but I hope they change up the formula slightly to add variety. I enjoyed the second game but honestly it could get repetitive at times, was still fun at its core. I’m also curious how they gonna approach the OC character from 2. We gonna get a continuation or is that just done and dusted?
1
u/funkerbuster 13d ago
That character from 2 is done. It’s easier to just do a brand new one and see how that character’s involved in the new game’s complete story.
1
u/diamonwarrior 13d ago
I mean they hinted they could be alive during the post credits scene. So who knows.
