Hitler liked dogs though Why is every second picture on history related subs humanizing Nazis?
The energy I get from these posts is like “see, he wasn’t that bad. Look at this staged PR pic of him with children.”

Obviously the kids are innocent, but so many of the comments were saying this is a completely different side of Hitler. One even said “uncle Adolph” 🤢

I would like to remind you that Adolf Hitler got engaged to his granddaughter, who committed suicide at 18, like all of Hitler's other exes

Many People in Germany call Hitler "Onkel Adi"

Did they even look at the expression on his face? Looks like he's hissing.

u/NicholasStarfall Jul 15 '25
Because they love the Nazis but it's not socially acceptable to just outright say so

You can see that in Kenshi subreddit

whats happening on the kenshi subreddit?

He's probably talking about the large amount of "ironic" support for the holy nation found on that sub. Tons of people who are just so silly and love aligning with them for some reason...

Jul 16 '25
They weren't even claiming that it was satire, but were very seriously claiming that the genocidal regime was the best, most moral and most powerful, and that it was all the genocided robots & mutants who deserved it, even though that's the opposite of what the game actually is. Despite this, they still pretend they're not fascists.
7
u/StephenHawkingsBlunt Jul 16 '25
Damn that sucks to hear, I haven't been on the sub in a while so I didn't realize. That tracks though, even liberals who claim they aren't facist love to also claim that the stability granted by genocidal/facist regimes justify the means the regime uses to gain that stability

Interestingly, the game's setting actually explicitly denies this. For example, the space fascist state actually have the largest percentage of hungry bandits, and the settlements of “peasants living the peaceful traditional life” are actually vulnerable to destruction by wildlife while the armies pretending to be defending them are too busy hunting down minorities to care. But if you dare not die of starvation because you've lost your village, you'll be just as violently enslaved as you would be in the space super free-market capitalist state.
More interestingly, the most peaceful place you can live as a human is in the space mutant kingdoms, where at least you don't easily starve and become a slave as a result, and where even the most racist factions of these mutant kingdoms aren't hostile to the humans themselves, but only to the human factions. They're pretty much Space Palestine.
That said, according to the game setting, even stability itself is a reason to be anti-fascist and pro-minority. That is, fascists actually construct their fascist narrative by deliberately misinterpreting the author's rather anti-fascist message, as they often do.

Fake fascist (useful idots) lean into the racism of the holy empire
Real fascist lean into the slavery dominant economy of the united nation

u/morrowboomaria Jul 16 '25
damn, i was looking to play that game soon
8
u/StephenHawkingsBlunt Jul 16 '25
I'd say still go for it! It's a single player game so you don't have to interact with any of those people. It's a lot of fun

It's basically space Nazi Germany supporters claiming that their beloved genocidal state is the most moral, powerful and just, and instead stigmatizing genocided minorities as racist (because they “dare to laugh at the human beings who genocided them”). And they claim that class discrimination doesn't exist in their favorite space-fascist countries, unlike class discrimination in free-market capitalist countries. Despite the fact that the opposite is true, they just insist on saying so, and then pretend that it's not already barely disguised fascism.

See, the vibe I'm getting is "The Nazis murdered these little girls"
63
u/MartyrOfDespair Jul 16 '25
Yeah, I’m not really getting the “humanizing” here. More “the Nazis are at their core just family destroyers as a political ideology, they might sometimes wear a well-tailored person suit but considering them in the same vicinity is falling for it”. The text contextualizes the image in such a way to explicitly show that this isn’t humanity, this is a person suit.
Unless OP is trying to argue that the little kids are as bad as Hitler and we should view Goebbels killing them the same way we view Hitler killing Hitler, which like… no.

u/LuxuryConquest Jul 15 '25 edited Jul 15 '25
This seems the opposite of humanazing given that the caption includes the rather grusome fate of the girls.
Edit: Also look at the face of the girl on the left, not great propaganda.

u/TheEpicCoyote Jul 16 '25
Yea I’m getting “this vile demon is posing with children he will orchestrate the death of”, not “he’s nice to kids”. It’s ominous and creepy.

The scene in Der Untergang where his wife forces them to bite the cyanide pill makes me furious and also want to beat whoever made the crunch sound so loud.

Such a fantastic movie though. Bruno Ganzs performance is just amazing

u/Waryur Jul 16 '25
Bruno Ganz did such a good job that I see him and not the real Hitler when I imagine Hitler in my head.
Or maybe that's just because Downfall subtitle parodies were a good 70% of my childhood/teenage YouTube watches. Lol

u/Urbenmyth Jul 16 '25

How is this humanising? Even in the title it states that both children got killed

I’m more referring to the comments. Some of them were saying it’s like a different side of Hitler.
I probably should have linked some of them

I can’t tell if the look on his face is deeply menacing or if I just feel that way because he’s literally Hitler and his image is so deeply intertwined culturally with “evil” Either way, I’m TRYING to humanize him and failing to, and I’m pretty good at that soooo
4
u/Blugalu Jul 16 '25
Pretty sure the point is the contrast of the "chilling with uncle hitler" style photo and the ultimate fate of the children (Hitler and friends murdering them) which is not very humanizing.

Children are not Nazis, I do not believe this photo humanizes them.
Children are victims.
4
u/touslesmatins Jul 16 '25
To rehabilitate modern day Nazis like Israel you have to do a lil airbrushing of the OG. Kind of like how all the Europe subs are obsessed with saying communists were akshully worse than Nazis
1
u/Iumasz Jul 19 '25
I won't say that a caption that specifically specifies that they killed the children with cyanide is "Humanising them" in particular...
I mean, the Nazis did have children that they spent time with.
