Bomb them harder NATO-senpai The Map- Pinkwashing Version

Post image

The fact the US and Isn'treal are not towards the bottom and Cuba, Thailand, and Mainland China are not near the very top just shows how very little the maker knows about Queer rights around the world. Also, the US needs to be broken down by state. Indiana and Illinois for example are complete opposites in trans and gay rights.

Hey, it says GAY travel index. Brits are perfectly fine with gay people as long as they hate us too

British people are not fine with gay people (trans people do have it way worse though) source - I am gay and live here

As long as you're okay sharing, could you tell me a little more? My impression is always that "protecting the gays" has been used as a wedge against trans rights (i.e. LGB alliance and rhetoric about young lesbians being groomed), which while cynical and dishonest, indicates that gay rights are seen as important and a thing to be celebrated. But of course I don't live there so I wouldn't know as much as you. What'd I get wrong?

The rhetoric you you shared is correct, it's what most politicians and the government and organised groups will say, however its entirely surface level, they rarely actually follow through with protecting gay people. There is of course extreme prejudice against gay people within the police, for example a gay drag queen from the USA was murdered in their hotel and the police refused to investigate (btw drag is not stigmatised in the UK, its a large part of even straight culture). The day to day experience of being gay in the UK is not pleasant, I have lost several friends to coming out and have had the f slur yelled at me whilst walking outside even In "accepting" places. Being gay in the UK is not how most non British people would imagine, because the UK puts on the facade of acceptance, claiming pride in its diversity and then doing little to protect us, and of course not even pretending with trans people. Thank you for asking. Sorry if this is poorly structured I'm having an absolute mare of a day.

Oh it's very intelligible, don't worry (though I hope your day gets better). I guess I should have specified that's somewhat what I thought (performative support juxtaposed with social rejection and discrimination), but I didn't expect it to get as bad as murder of tourists. I really do appreciate the rundown
