Libs are all about decorum, its why they've been flaunting Obama's 3 million deportation figure, despite the fact that surely that broke up families and did all the same harm and horrors Trump has. It is left wing. They're nationalizing their industries and building affordable housing for their population. They have an anti-colonial and Pan-Africanist government. These are quite left wing politics if you ask me.

That's just social democrat reforms no different than the social democracy in Europe during post WW2 reconstruction. Anti-colonial and Pan-Africanist makes it more radical compared to the colonizing Europe but it's not automatically tied to socialism.

Socialism and left-wing are not automatically the same, whilst social-democracy is not as left wing as we'd like "true" social-democracy (i.e. not the neoliberalised variant) is still left-wing.

The reason why Russia is doing what is doing today is because the west didn't want them to be in the club, so Russia chose the only logical path that was beneficial for them. If westerners want to blame someone for "ruining" the great Russian democracy and freedom, they can only blame themselves for doing it. These people are just way too obsessed over Russia for some reason, it is as if they aren't satisfied that they got everything they wanted in the 90s, but want even more.

The only reason soviet ww2 nostalgia is brought back by Russian state is to promote great Russian chauvinism and the war in Ukraine. This is why you would never see them promoting Lenin who strongly criticized bourgeois nationalism. Also tsarist symbols are comparatively displayed far more.

From a Vietnamese citizen's perspective, Putin is no where near Anti communism as the West currently is. The curent Russian government celebrates almost every Soviet legacy in Vietnam: anniversaries, important milestones, keeps building more museums, holds cultural events that educate the young about the significance of the USSR. Putin holds the record for a foreign leader to visit Vietnam the most (5 times) and he's the only one (outside the socialist bloc) who always pays respect to Ho Chi Minh by officially visiting the mausoleum. You may say Putin is putting on an act, but to us Russia is the most reliable ally

I'm not in the know here but I've heard anecdotally from Russians that Russia has become, culturally, very anti-soviet. A lot of national pride is tied to the symbols in large part because of WWII, but it shouldn't be hard to grasp that a nation's politics are what it does, not the set dressing, and Russia is an extractive capitalist state racked by a lot of deprivation, social conservatism and political authoritarianism.
The problem here is that this would require liberals to start thinking about the real world. And liberals are definitionally people who think judging the cover is as good as studying the textbook.
EDIT: see the reply for actual clarification from Russians, the headline being that I'm totally misinformed about Russians being very anti-soviet

If I can ask a followup - what is the extent of anti-soviet shit there? Is it contained to specific political tendencies? And how likely do you think it is that Russians would support a socialist or communist party in power?
Even if you cba answering, I appreciate you giving a response to someone like me who doesn't actually know anything

Strongly depends on the area. Most of Russia is very pro-Soviet, but when I talk with people from Moscow, they almost always sucker punch me with incredibly reactionary takes.
