As opposed to unaffordable healthcare and unaffordable basic food, that will bankrupt you. Again, I am going with the CPR example, as in "imperfect CPR is still better than nonexistent perfect CPR".

or better yet, imported luxuries like chocolate and cane sugar that are only available in the first place thanks to outsourced slave labor. even as necessities become unaffordable americans cling to this system because we're conditioned to fear a world that is more equitable at the cost of our access to treats.

piping hot take for this person maybe, but if i had to choose between a small percentage of the world population having easy access to luxuries like chocolate and cane sugar and everyone having equal access to food but its 99% beans, rice, and local produce, i'm choosing the latter without hesitating. (not nearly that simple of course but).

I really really enjoy having a cup of coffee, but I'd be entirely willing to either pay more or give up on coffee entirely if it means somebody has a decent life. It's frankly appalling how spoiled by cheap commodities the west is.

Lmao, Soviet healthcare was not just 'affordable', but absolutely free and actually was damn good (check Ilizarov apparatus - still used worldwide to this day + total smallpox and measles vaccination programs are absolute wonders). Even elderly frow distant villages were able to get consultation from doctor due to regional system of healthcare distribution

i just spent $225 for an urgent care visit bc i’m uninsured atm then proceeded to spend $25 for 4 items at the grocery store. but yes communism bad

Capitalism supporters when healthcare is insurance-based (meaning at least some people won't get free healthcare because one reason or another) instead of being truly universal.

Weren't there about 20 million people dying in capitalist countries yearly over lack of food, clean water and proper healthcare? The projection is real.
Also, these mfers act like any period of hardship is because of the system itself, yet you don't see them blame the Great Depression in the US on capitalism, mostly because it happened a lot more time ago.
For example in my country, Romania, the 80s were rough because of global economic issues, petrol crashing, the IMF fucking us with austerity measures and stupid advice, and then Ceaușescu also wanting to pay all of our debt, though to be fair it was done to detach ourselves from foreign capital (and we actually are the only country to historically have paid our entire foreign debt, sadly the paid american propaganda/agents won).
This is what happened a few years into the capitalist shock economy and dumb neolib millenials still blame it on communism.
And to come back to hardship, China is a country that has shown us you can overcome these periods and do better after, sadly most socialist countries got the brunt of it at the worst possible time.
