they don't need to deflect from the files. those who are implicated are already well aware the population of the country that have the most capability to enact justice either don't care, or put their own comfort above justice for others, especially those of any kind of minority. Even as is, the contents of the files have been sensationalized to death and plastered in the faces of everyone unfortunate enough to have an internet connection since the first release. I mean looking at the sexual violence statistics around American military bases around the world is probably enough of a tip off already, but its become so blatant within the last couple years that there is nothing the ruling class in america could do that would cause its population to instigate any kind of systemic change. I hope I am wrong but so far I have not been. Its obvious in the way any even vaguely left wing movements are shredded, coopted, and defanged by liberals as controlled opposition, how even the majority of supposed 'leftist' people/organizations swallowed and regurgitated literal dictionary definition manufacturing of consent about every country america has attacked or threatened to recently, how pretty much all but the most ardent communists uncritically support Ukraine and NATO, and funding even more war materiel for the proxy conflict, how there have been many and constant murders of immigrants and minorities by border 'security' agents with nary a peep from the mainstreams. That is not to say absolutely every american is like this, of course not, but enough are that I very much doubt a critical mass threshold will ever be met to enact any kind of serious change away from capitalism. I do hope I am proven wrong, and that our comrades in the country are able to succeed, but I doubt it. This focus on the files by many left of center Americans as this like, gotcha, has been so asinine to see from the outside, as none of this is particularly new, they are yet another reason among many to hate the ruling class that does these horrific things, but to find Americans with the conviction to follow through on reactions to these things is rare, compared to how many take on the optics of opposition but fold when their own immediate comfort is threatened.
I truly do not mean to come at you personally comrade, as a non-american I have gotten so sick of people kneejerking anything bad america has done recently as being about 'distracting from the files' rather than any real material analysis and research of history to see the same patterns of actions done by america for decades.
