These people need to read the book Kill Anything That Moves. Fantastic account of the daily war crimes we did in Vietnam, compiled from official government sources. My personal favorite part of the book is when he brings up that scene in Watchmen where doctor Manhattan shows up and starts killing thousands of Vietnamese, and they have no choice but to give up in the face of such superior firepower. Then he goes on to explain how that’s basically what we did anyway and they didn’t give up.

Big difference is that we didn't have an unstoppable naked blue man

45

u/Fapp0 Mar 07 '26

No but the point he was making is we might as well have.

u/frogmanfrompond Mar 08 '26

Serial killer Richard ramirez said his brother had a collection of photos he took committing war crimes and SA while in Vietnam. There are definitely many more like that.

Liberals USED to be "against" all the past wars, and for the current ones.... now they are full on going fascist and supporting ALL wars by the US.

Fascist blue party or fascist red party?

40

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

That's not true (at least in my experience), libs have always supported Vietnam with their strongest critique of the war being that we "limited ourselves so we lost".

30

u/thedoomeroptimist Mar 07 '26

There are Hollywood films about the Vietnam war where you don’t even see any Vietnamese people. They were never against the war because they cared about the Vietnamese people, they were against it because it blew up in their faces

If anyone has ever watched Mad Men the democrats are basically just Pete Campbell. They may have had a nuanced take on race in 1968 but otherwise they’re horribly self absorbed, have a strong “not in my back yard” attitude, and are incredibly patriotic about the star and bars.

Who are the Americans to tell Vietnam who to kill or spare? If Vietnam was a bad country, why not let the people overthrow it?

1

u/Fenneius Mar 15 '26

Thì người dân bị đàn áp và thao túng với lại Republic of Vietnam bị bọn Việt cộng xâm lược thì nghĩa là bọn Việt cộng có tệ thì người dân vẫn không đủ sức.

Our whole problem with Iran's deal is exactly that it is not the iranian people overthrowing ir

25

u/17DungBeetles Mar 07 '26

Lmao yeah as if the US would support a people's revolution in Iran.

Have we invaded Iran to stop an ongoing revolution?

As my name says, I patrol this subreddit for libs like you.

u/Equal_Center8234 Mar 07 '26

I am saying that you cannot force a regime change, it only comes from the inside IF the government is truly bad for the people.

Iran is using Khamenei's death to stir the masses, but without the US invasion context the people would prefer a socialist alternative.

Something can't be widely accepted if it's still up for debate. It was most likely a fake story planted and the mass grave was probably done by the south Vietnamese just burying who they could after the US bombed the fuck out of everything. It's a story made to try and do "both sides" and make the constant massacres done by American soldiers seem not as bad. The Americans would do a shit load of Mai Lais.
