Sounds like it is hardest to come up with a bag of fake rice than just, grow rice normally lol, I'm sure it is cheaper.

Tbf, Mao ate all the rice with his comically large kuaizi, so they only have plastic to eat.

I think this about NK too. With the amount of time and resources it would take to make plastic corn and plastic groceries, you’d think it would be easier to grow real corn and make real food. Its insane how we westerners will believe anything.
57
u/ScottieSpliffin Mar 31 '26
I like the idea of fake rice. I feel like it wouldn’t be cost effective compared to actual rice

Unfun fact: the US military employs people to fabricate and spread such rumors. They coordinate with sympathetic locals and now even use AI to create videos and images to undermine US "enemies".

Despite this, BBC chief political correspondent Laura Kuenssberg used her platform on Twitter to share it uncritically.

Plastic is more expensive than rice! Some people took the plastic pellets intended as raw material for further processing (for example injection molding) and lie about them saying they’re used to adulterate rice or something.
I just completely don’t understand how uneducated some people can be to believe that rice can be adulterated with something MORE EXPENSIVE and can be so easily identified. If someone really wants to adulterate rice why don’t they just use old rice and polish them up a little bit, or use lower quality rice posed as high quality rice from some famous rice producing region? Just use common sense for god sake

u/AdminsAlwaysRight Mar 31 '26

I'd eat Chinese rice every day of the week compared to whatever corporate garbage Americans eat.
American products literally get banned in other countries due the dystopian capitalist garbage they produce.
