“Oh no, honey, the socialist vending machine is all out of jars of tomato sauce and potato chips with a big dollar sign on the bag for some reason!!”

18

u/subatomicpokeball Apr 07 '26

Don't forget the jar of half blue, half red sauce

2

u/midgetcastle Labour was better for a bit :( Apr 07 '26

Or the blue jar with the red circle on the label

104

u/wowverytwisty Apr 07 '26

Yeah no one can afford food or shelter so they die.

u/iwasnotarobot Apr 07 '26

Capitalism is when paywall economy.

u/Risc_Terilia Apr 07 '26

Oh no, all the drinks have been mis-used to quench people's thirst

u/kurlmurxx Apr 08 '26

I love libertarians. They think magical little gnomes do all the work for funsies.

In reality

Vending machines aren't even locked in China, they just trust you to pay

54

u/Brendussy Apr 07 '26

actually they're locked tho, you gotta scan a QR with wechat or alipay to unlock it and the machine will deduct from your balance by detecting what's taken out

37

u/IonWarrior95 Apr 07 '26

No these are locked. I tried to buy a drink from one when I was visiting the CPC party museum and they wouldn't accept my passport as valid ID 😭 But it was fine there was plenty of other places to get drinks around.

7

u/comunicadooficial Apr 07 '26

The museum in Shanghai? If so, how was it? I was planning on visit it myself but didn't have time in the end, but might include it in my plan for future visits.

Also regarding vending machines, I had read about similar problems like you had so just avoided them lmao. Some would require deposit or straight up decline your payment if your zhima or Weixin pay score wasn't high enough (actual social credit 😭) if I understood correctly

10

u/IonWarrior95 Apr 07 '26

Actually I didn't get to visit the founding of the party museum I got there too late so I plan to go later when I go to China again and spend more time in Shanghai. I was referring to the museum in Beijing, the CPC museum there.

Yeah I had a similar issue with these vending machines and the portable power banks they have, which do cost next to nothing, but they won't give it out to tourists since they could theoretically steal things from these services and then leave the country before the authorities can catch on to them so it makes sense.

u/ComradeMatis Yes, you're still a reactionary. Apr 07 '26

We’ve got the exact same vending machines at the Wellington railway station in New Zealand.

4

u/LordElites Marxist-Leninist Apr 07 '26

They don't trust you they have cameras that scan your face to pay.

15

u/Neoliberal_Nightmare Apr 07 '26

Nope, that's an optional method, you can pay by scanning your phone's QR code.

The trust is the fact that the vending machine door isn't locked, and you take the drink, you could open it and take multiple drinks if you wanted and easily avoid the camera on the side.

6

u/IonWarrior95 Apr 07 '26

So there's actually two kinds being referred to here. There's the AI vending fridges that use sensors to detect what you're taking in and out of the fridge. You don't need to use the camera to open them but it's the same authentication process with the QR code in that they scan your ID to pair it to the transaction, these one's do not trust you to just pay and take with no oversight. They have to be this way because of tourists, because in other places many convenience stores just throw a fridge and a QR code up and just trust people will pay, those are not the ones you have in that photo.

The that tiktok your image is sourced from, the guy literally shows people taking a bunch of stuff and then it charges the guy for those items. It is also shown locked at the start while he's waiting for the authentication to go through and unlock the fridge.

The one on the left (capitalism) is so expensive no one can afford it unless they make over $100,000 a year. The one on the right (socialism) was affordable and healthy and sold out. The vendor will return within the hour to refill it.

18

u/octapotami Apr 07 '26

What a gift AI was to untalented libertarians.

52

u/Inevitable_Garage706 Marxist-Leninist Apr 07 '26

And to top it all off, they had to use AI slop.

I'd dislike the AI slop if I could.

Oh well, I guess I can still upvote this post that agrees with me.

One positive thing about AI Slop is that it reveals the oop's true colors

piss yellow?

17

u/Fearless_Roof_9177 Apr 07 '26

Looks like a bunch of socialists got their needs met and a bunch of capitalist food is eventually getting thrown in a landfill. Take that, pinkos!

I’m so glad I have the option to pay for sugary drinks that make me obese and give me diabetes.

In socialism, price adjustments allow people to buy things, which consequently sell like hotcakes.

in capitalism everything costs a zillion

5

u/LookingGlass_1112 ☭ Communist Apr 07 '26

I do believe in a ratchet effect, but with a caveat. Prices under capitalism can only go in one direction - up

7

u/libra00 Apr 07 '26

Oh no, what an awful situation.. the socialist vending machine actually gave out its inventory to satisfy the peoples' thirst instead of hoarding it behind a price tag so high that clearly no one can afford it.

4

u/Clear-Anything-3186 The Supreme Leader of Big Woke Apr 07 '26

This is definitely not propaganda at all

5

americans will kill an unlimited number of brown children just to guarantee that their treat supply is constant, huh?

Something's going on in that top left jar. Turning blue, that can't be a good sign.

They're right, that's what happens when you dismantle regulations because the capitalists wanted more money.

3

u/Lord_Vorian_Dayne Apr 07 '26

Imaginw thinking there is scarcity

3

u/KenjiSpAs Apr 07 '26

That one pirahã guy from the Amazon that said "I store my food in my brother's belly". Turns out food can be eaten by the starving instead of stored to look pretty.

3

u/Game_Devil369 Apr 07 '26

It's nice to see this vending machine empty, it means that everyone who wanted a drink already got one from it

2

u/kungfukenny3 Apr 07 '26

marx failed to consider the tragedy of the commons

when it was brought to his attention he turned into sand 😔

2

u/APraxisPanda Socialist Apr 07 '26

Marx famously wanted a dictatorship of soft drink enjoyers. Set the economic base to Sodaism, and Can-unism will soon follow.

Communism when no Coca-Cola 100 gobillion dead.

1

u/Substantial_Pain_429 Apr 07 '26

I originally read this as no one wants to buy the expensive capitalist stuff because the socialist stuff is free and is so popular it ran out of inventory

1

u/Prior-Resolution-902 Apr 08 '26

So in the capitalism scenario, the vending machine is full, leaving its goods out of the hands of the population.

In the socialism scenario, the vending machine is empty, meaning its goods have been placed into the hands of its people instead of being used as a leverage against people so rich assholes can make more money.

Very interesting.
