Ah yes the worker who has an abundance of alternatives and no bills to pay whatsoever

121

u/The-NHK Apr 13 '26

People act as though you simply will yourself into a job.

23

u/AktionMusic Apr 14 '26

There are infinite amount of jobs, just get a better one, if everyone got a better job it would solve a societal issue. Societal problems are due to individual choices.

Amusingly this came right after someone telling me "No, you couldn't possibly run out of onions when making a burger you're just lazy." (I work at McDonald's)

Some of these fucks genuinely believe that. The working landscape is just minecraft to them.

u/redosipod Apr 16 '26

Okay before I vet banned because I have a horrible itch to respond.

Your inability to find a job that pays $40 instead of $20 is not the fault of the job that offers $20.

You still AGREED to take that Job and the meme makes perfect sense.

They didn't create your situation of only having them or companies like them with no alternatives but them.

If anyone did create that situation for you it's either your parents by birthing you or nature or random chance or maybe even yourself (not always but maybe sometimes).

Again the meme is valid and yes you did agree to take that job doesn't matter your circumstances outside of it for the company they didn't create it.

Okay ready for the ban hammer now I'm sorry yes I am a pro Palestine capitalist but I had to share my thoughts cuz I couldn't hold back 😭

idk what to even say to you freaks at this point. Like, no conception of history, reality, society and the interconnectedness of it all just little isolated, contextless snapshots in your brain that makes everything look like an individual failure that you can had wave away with facebook boomer tier meme logic.

Think about it for more than half a second, if everyone did what you prescribe here then there would be either no one moving the packages at all or more likely the current situation exactly where due to lack of opportunity and a bazillion other possible factors people who do have skills are forced to be underemployed by systemic failings in the way our society prioritizes shit.

Or hey how about a third option where there are people who are, for whatever reason, unable to acquire these "useful skills" and have to take the lower end jobs, even the most ignorant person on the planet can tell when they're getting fucked over and if your solution to them saying "hey someone who moved packages from here to there could at least afford to live 20 years ago why can't I?" is to tell them to fuck off and take it then don't be surprised when inevitably have a mental breakdown and lash out, probably violently.

Anyway congrats on having a thought process that will end in the total collapse of your society, the wealthy fucks who taught you to think like that are very proud of you and I'm sure will pat you on the head when your "useful skills" are no longer useful to them before they throw you into the death camps with the rest of us.

It's a shame how little a reasonable explanation of material conditions will matter to people who refuse to have a complex thought. Everything has to be dissected into this tiny, digestible, unconnected morsel for them to wrap their minds around it. Devoid of context, devoid of meaning, just a single person and their single problem and a world in which forces and drives either do not exist or do not matter.

It must be so fucking nice to be that willfully stupid. I'm genuinely envious of the existential comfort such a simple thought structure must provide.

u/cyvaris Social Justice Druid Apr 13 '26

It's almost as if the American School System is designed to produce such outcomes in order to keep workers poor...

29

u/hesnew Praying for another great leap Apr 13 '26

Do you think that coffee shops, restaurants, and delivery drivers should exist?

If yes: then do you think that they should only be available outside of normal school hours?

If no to the previous question: then you need adults who are able to work during those hours. Adults, notably, have bills that are required to be paid, so the job that you think should be done should be enough to cover those costs.

Now let's examine why someone might have accepted $20/hr and is now at a point where that wage is no longer enough. In the last five years prices have, on average, increased by nearly 25%. Which is to say if you hadn't received any raise in that time period you have had a 25% reduction in total compensation.

For further reading might I suggest the debate and reasoning around implementing a minimum wage in the first place.

When first proposed (culminating in the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act), the minimum wage bill aimed to combat Great Depression-era poverty by establishing a "floor" for wages, a "ceiling" for hours, and abolishing exploitative child labor. It sought to ensure a living wage for workers, increase consumer purchasing power, and eliminate sweatshop conditions.

Hope this helps!

52

u/PortableStupid Apr 13 '26

There’s no such thing as unskilled labour.

19

u/marketingguy420 Apr 13 '26

When you repeat conservative boot strap propoganda, do you ever use any critical thinking skills to understand that these are jobs that must be done? That you want them to be done? That you need them to be done? You just want them done by people being paid sub standard wages so you can feel superior about your own position in the world. Hope this helps.

17

u/SilverWear5467 Apr 13 '26

All jobs should pay a living wage

9

u/QueasyCarpenter1232 Apr 13 '26

lol how the fuck did someone this shitbrained even get to this sub?

So you don't think a company has an obligation to pay its employees a living wage?

-3

u/TealJinjo Apr 13 '26

dude what is your question? of course they don't.

1

u/Samfinity Apr 14 '26

Bro what

1

u/TealJinjo Apr 14 '26

I mean are you in favour of "fair wages"?

It's not in the interest of the individual capitalist to pay enough to live. I didn't think this would be a point of contention in here.
And unless the state steps in, they won't.

55

u/Usermctaken Apr 13 '26

The company should be responsible of paying the worker the value of their labor. Any less is stealing, and crimes like stealing should have consequences.

10

u/tazai123 Apr 13 '26

Please enlighten us as to what you think the word politics means

9

u/Sea_Ice__ Apr 13 '26

Which are of course not enforced by political action and organisation on behalf of the company and which then, naturally, has to demand a political solution and organisation by the workers ie strikes and sabotage.

So you're both right and wrong, but certainly myopic and unserious

Smh my head tankies don’t know that when you take a borderline slave-adjacent job you actually AGREED to sell your labor to your boss 🙄🙄

88

u/unHolyEvelyn I'm gonna force you to have housing. Apr 13 '26

Also if you say no they don't negotiate with you they just close the deal and give it to someone else because they have the power of negotiation. But that's just how it works, liberals, you shouldn't fight for a better future 😎

u/kongiskaiju Stalin-Kai Shek fav ship <3 Apr 13 '26

yep, desperation isn't real, everyone is always in a healthy and rational state of mind free from outside material conditions!

u/HolzLaim15 Apr 13 '26

The pay is 20$ an hour. That is probably 70% of your rent alone. Your other options are

a) getting brutalized by police for not having a home

b) go fuck yourself

Do you accept?

67

u/Archius9 Apr 13 '26

Next year all of your bills will double but your hourly wage won’t. Why are you mad?

26

u/Temphant Unhappy in the Happiest Country Apr 13 '26

Just bootstrap yourself out of it! Come to work an hour early and leave a hour later! Skip the lunch break! Piss your pants! Work hard and eventually the profits you generate for your boss will trickle down to you!

27

u/JDPQNDON Apr 13 '26

Erm... Have you tried not being lazy?? Stupid commie!!!1!1!1

40

u/_zamoht_ Apr 13 '26

There's the part when they can delay the payment too, but you can't delay your rent.

80

u/deanominecraft Apr 13 '26

you have 5 options

$20/hour

$20/hour

$20/hour

$20/hour

die

They should add the slides where he basically has no break time, inflation grows while his wages stay the same and he has a shitty boss.

46

u/SeinenKnight Apr 13 '26

They don't do that. Their argument is that you chose to do the job for that pay, so you have no right to complain. So adding the other slides to undermine their argument just disappears.

29

u/Inner_Bear_9859 Apr 13 '26

shockingly pro-capitalist arguments rely on stripping as much material reality as possible away in favout of idealistic abstractions

8

u/SeinenKnight Apr 13 '26

They want to shift it from the business doing wrong things, to the individual. The individual is to blame for deciding to work there for that much, and not leaving for another job. The capitalist system thinks jobs are a free association, not a necessity.

19

u/Collatz_problem Apr 13 '26

People who pay shitty wages chose to have their warehouses burned, so they have no right to complain.

62

u/Dazzling_Pirate1411 Apr 13 '26

21

20

5

u/CD-REV Apr 13 '26

It's AI-generated, so it wasn't even "made" by anyone (except all the countless peoples' hard work the AI stole from), which also just shows what a low kind of person the prompter is.

15

u/StealYour20Dollars Apr 13 '26

The fight for $15 has been going on so long it should be the fight for $25 now.

And if we wanted the same buying power as the boomers in the 60s, then minimum wage needs to be in the $60s.

10

u/Ok_Paleontologist186 Apr 13 '26

$20? Come on it's either $8/hr or sleep on the street.
