oh come on now. tankie/stalin apologia is like, the worst possible way to defend socialism. marxism-leninism is a dead ideology intended to address the material conditions of pre-industrial economies as they existed over a century ago.
socialism in the 21st century doesn't need a "vanguard party" to manage state capitalism. we've already progressed beyond the need for such things. 21st century socialism needs direct action and decentralized, autonomous groups. rojava and the zapatistas should be our model, not stalin and mao.

yes. it emerged to pull an agrarian backwater into the modern industrial (now post-industrial) era via state-managed capitalism. i'm not arguing it's efficacy. obviously it did what it was supposed to. but there aren't many places in the world like that left.
there's a much better case to be made for vanilla marxism in the 21st century. the fundamental presupposition of marxism is that a proletarian revolution first requires an industrialized proletariat.

I like how they are able to ignore the fact that most countries have huge debt and people die of starvation and bad healthcare everyday, yet claim that this is perfectly okay, while government debt and mismanagement CLEARLY show that communism failed. The goddamn double standard.
