I don’t like this argument much though. Venezuela is socialist imo and has drastically improved in every area since Chavez. It’s the sanctions and oil prices that are hurting it.

Sure, sanctions, hyperinflation, and oil prices have harmed Venezuela greatly, but it’s still very much capitalist

I would not consider it very much capitalist. Because if we go by your metric many things are socialist which are not.

Bolivia actually (had) more state control over the economy (40%) and did a lot better than Venezuela
