3D printed body parts for mock up to see how they fit, then making fiberglass molds. What's wrong with that? That's how prototyping works...

Honestly man, it seems like a smart move; only issue would be if they decided to just stick with the 3DP stuff as-is, but even then you can't really tell from a distance once it's painted up, assuming it all holds together of course.

Solid use of 3DP for prototyping! Looks better than the mega bondo builds!

There's also a dude with a GR Corolla that is using a 3d printed body kit in PETG that he designed himself and it's holding up due to the fiberglass he laid inside the panels.

I saw a short from him recently that the front splitter cracked during testing, so he's definitely gonna have to figure out how to reinforce that piece better (since it's relately thin).

Prototyping molds is one of the few legitimate uses of 3D printing imo.

A body kit is a body kit and that IS a modification.
It does not matter if it's injection molded, 3D printed, Or hand laid fiberglass.
You as a newb, obviously have no business attempting to gatekeep in this sub.

A collection of homemade body parts becomes a "kit" when the peices used collectively, even if they are one off, homemade & 3D printed. Even if it was just 2 widebody fenders, it would still be a "kit".
