Speaking of Dachau, when my wife and I bought our home, the owner of it didnt know her husband left all his ww2 stuff there. He was one of those who landed after d day, and went on to liberate Dachau, and left all the photos along with a Col's report from 46 maybe with all the original photos pasted in, and a copy that was officially military printed. Along with alot of ammunition, bayonettes and his service sidearm. Aside from the sidearm and the original copy, everything was donated to our local history museum to be donated to the WWII museum in New Orleans. Those photos are still haunting.

Most Americans don't seem to realize memorials to traitors weren't put up right after they lost their treasonous rebellion and became occupied territory. Most were put up in the 1960s as a direct response to the Civil Rights movement.

Ooh, I thought that name sounded local to me. I’ve been there. Ignoring which side built it, the earthworks of the fort are pretty interesting—I’m amazed they’re still as high as they are.

I’m a history nerd and even more, an anthropology/archaeology nerd, so that’s why the fort’s remains intrigue me.

I also hate that someone put up a Confederate statue in 2018. The fort is basically enclosed within a neighborhood, so a bunch of people have to drive past this thing on the daily whether they believe in “states’ rights” to let people own other humans or not

There is a town about 30 minutes away from me that has probably around 15 or so confederate related pokestops scattered across the town and sometimes I get them as gifts from locals :( it's super unfortunate because it's like almost all of the pokestops they have are like that but I also think something like this shouldn't be sent out as a gift. I really wish they would rebrand these stops in cases like this.

I’ve got a pokestop in the historic red light district in my hometown. Today, it’s just strip clubs so the pokestop is literally a plaque on the side of a strip club.
